: "On 9/17/2023 I went to the er due to a nearly severed my left hand middle finger off with electric trimmers and it wouldn’t stop bleeding for over an hour! I waited for 4 hours between the waiting room and the emergency room I was taken to but very much ignored.
See. I have a son who passed away on 12/26/2020 at Advocate Downers Grove. So I was having extremely bad anxiety and panic attacks from being back at a hospital.. I pushed the nurse call button. Took about a half hour for them to respond to that. Once I told the nurse I can’t be in the hospital my son died I’m freaking out etc… no one ever came back to see me. Oh wait. I lied. X-ray came and took me for an X-ray of my spine. That’s right people. My spine. Not my severely injured finger to see if maybe I sliced it down to the bone… yea. So while I waited I BEGGED my husband to let me leave and take care of it tomorrow at the Advocate Urgent Care literally located in my neighborhood, but we’re closed when the incident happened. I begged and begged him. He had to get up for work and stay home with our 11 year old and 1 year old puppy. I’d Uber home I told him.
While waiting I also was chatting with my mom. She was with me when I had to decide to unplug life support from my eldest son who was 18 at the time. The last time I saw my son was on my birthday two days prior to his horrific accident. My mom completely understood why I couldn’t stay in the er anymore. I was fine in the waiting room. But as soon as they opened up the double doors to go back into an er room.. the smell smacked me right in the face. And then the beeping… so much beeping. Took me back to the 9 days of hell I was forced to be put through.
So I orderd an Uber, driver was 10 mins away. I decided to stay in the room until the driver was like outside…Uber came and the driver was 100% on my side when I started complaining to him about this visit. Let me go back for one sec. When I registered with er staff when I first walked in, it was bleeding so bad that my blood pressure was 180/120 and they re-wrapped my finger. So at this point I now have gauze securing it.
That being said I figured if this wasn’t a dire emergency, then I will just go to the urgent care in the morning.

: "Went into the er and was told I was going to get in as soon as possible. Sat for 7 1/2 hrs not one person updated or told me when I would be brought back. Mind you I told the nurse it was hard to breathe and substantial pain. There was an older gentleman crying and moaning and asking - pleading for help and all he kept getting told was “ it’s not your turn” multiple people spoke up to try and get him help but the hospital staff was rude and extremly dismissive. I will never go back to that hospital again ever. I ended up leaving after being told to “suck it up and go back to my seat”. Very upset " - Jennifer
