ER Wait Times in Pima County Hospitals

Average wait times at hospital in Pima County show the time patients can expect to spend. Actual wait times will depend on many factors, such as severity of the injury, time of day, and staffing. Patients are quickly evaluated as part of a triage process, so the most severe cases can be treated first. Depending on the hospital, this initial wait can run from a few minutes to over an hour. The times below also include wait times for initial treatment, since there can be many delays after the triage process. Choose an ER with a shorter wait time to get seen more quickly.

: "With Covid, everyone in healthcare is scrambling. I have Ulcerative Colitis and of an MD had not called 5 min before I was wheeled from their office to ER, I could have been turned away due to fever although it was UC fever along with dehydration, anemia seriously low BP of 78/48, extreme diarrhea with mostly blood. I arrived at 2:30ish and was taken back a couple of time to repeat blood work because the very young phlebotomist did not take enough blood when she stuck me even though I commented that it looked like the tubes were nearly empty. I sat in a decrepit wheel chair for about 6 hours with many other very sick ER waiting patients. I think we need to understand hospitals are short on staff, supplies, Covid protective gear and everyone is on edge. I really thought I was at death’s door when I arrived; so we’re many others. Let’s all give the medical staff a break and hope they really are going by highest Acuity seen first. WEAR YOUR MADK! and distance 10 feet, not 6. Godspeed " - CWT

: "My 14 year old is in pain. She is crying, pacing, rocking, shaking, and occasionally yelling out. She rated it at a 9 out of 10 when we first got here. We’ve been in the waiting room for over 4 hours. There has not been more than 6 patients in the waiting room this whole time. They’ve taken 2 back. Even if they have ambulances coming in why can’t she get in a room where she can rest without listening to the babies yelling? They have dozens of rooms, but patient care is not a priority. This has happened almost every time I’ve been here. I brought another child in 2 years ago and they left us in the waiting room for over 8 hours. At least that time they were actually busy" - Jenn

: "I waited five hours to see a doctor for less than five minutes and when she was walking out of the hallway I was waiting in they were giving me a two thousand dollar bill then they wanted to do a lab which they said 30-45 minutes I waited a hour and told them they were out of time I was leaving they woke up from their chairs and brought my paperwork to me told me there was nothing they could do for a spider bite where my whole leg is swollen up and couldn’t bend " - James

: "I'm 79 year old CAD patient with many fine experiences with staff at Health Park. Last October my veteran nurses were all gone, replaced by much younger staff. In ER, they were training youngsters like mad. Some knew their stuff. Many did not. I believe many veterans left or retired because conditions are made too difficult.
Two weeks ago went to Gulf Coast ER @ 9 pm with blocked bladder. Worst ER experience ever at ER. My wife and I were shocked at how messy rest rooms were. Young nurse jabbed and failed to draw blood Ouch! Still have bruise. Took blood twice, never asked me for urine. At 3 am my bladder released on it's own. I practically forced them to take it. Half an hour later, they had UTI diagnosis, based on urine, not blood.

: "Honestly I’m just thinking about taking my chances to schedule a doctors appointment. I walked into a waiting room of three people and it’s been over a hour and a half and I still haven’t seen a doctor. These people are ridiculous... " - Kionna
