These are the average time from entering the ER to being admitted to the hospital by a doctor. In a busy ER, patients will be seen by a triage nurse first. Then the wait time will vary by severity, and how busy the ER is at the time of day. Patients with less serious problems could have substantially longer waits.

There is a 135 minute wait difference between the fastest Indianapolis emergency room and the slowest.

: "My roommate was driven to the ER at Henry County Medical Center, Paris, Tennessee October 1, 2021. He was treated for "Covid19 with pneumonia" even though we heard on the news there is no test for it, really for many reasons. The Alfred Hitchcock moment came when he came home and kept repeating over and over "The hospital is completely empty. I was the only patient I saw anywhere for 3 days." You can't make this up...." - Karen

: "My mom was sent to the ER today by her surgeon at 11:00 a.m. to be admitted to University Hospital in Augusta Georgia. She is still sitting in the waiting room at the ER 8:00p.m.
She is a cancer patient currently undergoing treatment and has a compromised immune system. She hasn't had food or water the entire 9 hrs and no one mentioned she could have been waiting at home all this time via the virtual check in app. I just happened to discover while googling ER wait times. Why is this happening!?"

: "Western Arizona (Bullhead City) 10 HOURS in ER lobby in September 2021. Checked in at 6pm with extreme abdominal pain. I did not see triage till 9pm. I then went through a CT scan and internal ultrasound with no results. I ended up walking out at 5AM the next day now 9k in medical debt and no conclusion as to why I am in such extreme pain. : "My Daughter's been in the emergency room at St Joseph hospital since 730 am. ER doctors said appendix inflammation shown on the CT, possibly surgery to remove... overwhelmed with the patient intake has the staff forgetting the patient still there. Horrible experience. She's a corandelet employee. Admittance was also scheduled at 100 pm. Still sitting on a chair with severe pain.. Said staff could monitor her if given pain meds, because of the overwhelmed patient intake. Making their priorities on patients in need has been put aside because of lake of staff.. Understand the Covid-19 burn out and overwhelming cases. But patient in need are sitting in chairs waiting for possibly critical surgery being held up. Horrible times in the medical field. But lack of staff and urgency to treat patients in need has to be blamed on the hospital president and staff assisting him or her." - Richard

: "Took my 10mnth old grandbaby to Rush Oak Park for trouble breathing, vomiting, and coughing. Was triaged and haven't been seen since. Only 3 people have been taken in back after 5 hours. A lady with an even younger baby with asthma still hasnt been seen and they were here before us." - Dani

: "My 80 year old father fell & hit his head and we have been sitting in the Rockdake hospital emergency room for OVER 14 hours. We live nearby but we were told that if we leave to go home and rest that we lose our place in line and must start over when we return. And they are very disorganized. They called him back for blood work while he was already back in CT scan. They couldn't find him for a while. Now we can't leave until he sees a doctor but he's been sitting in a wheel chair for 14 hours and he's exhausted and in pain from the chair. You don't treat our elderly like this! " - Amanda

: "St. Vincent’s W 86th St., is a NIGHTMARE. This is one ER that should be closed permanently! We have been waiting nearly 4 hours, and feels like no one cares, they absolutely do not. St. Vincent’s “Asension” get it together if you cannot take care of the patients your lock the door. Stop accepting people, let them go to a hospital who can attend to them. No words. " - M.
