These are the average time from entering the ER to being admitted to the hospital by a doctor. In a busy ER, patients will be seen by a triage nurse first. Then the wait time will vary by severity, and how busy the ER is at the time of day. Patients with less serious problems could have substantially longer waits.

There is a 110 minute wait difference between the fastest Oklahoma City emergency room and the slowest.

: "In August 2023, I sat in Vanderbilt University waiting room for eleven hours to receive less than
Thirty minutes of attention and a diagnosis of “we don’t know what caused the inability to make sense trying to talk” on the day before.
There were people in obviously greater distress than I, who waited just as long.
I wonder what the wait for would have been for Vanderbilt management or board members would have been. I learned the soution in Economics 101. "

: "We think my 77 year old husband has a kidney stone. He has been sitting in the waiting room at Chester County Hospital for 4 hours already. Nobody else was allowed in. The waiting room was packed at 6:30 pm when we got there. He is still waiting, bearing the pain and throwing up frequently. It is presently 10:40 pm as I type this. Seriously people?

Had we known, we should have called an ambulance. "

: "Hinsdale Hospital - November 9, 2023. Wife arrives at 3 pm called from wait room at 7:10 pm. At 6:30 pm, they inform her they have a few critical cases and cannot estimate how much longer. People have left that arrived during this time. I (her husband) came back at 7 pm and witnessed three ambulances (private service) arrive at the same time.

Busiest we’ve ever seen inside Hinsdale ER.

Learned Elmhurst publishes their wait time. Was 31 minutes at 6:30 and dropped to 25 minutes at 7:15 pm.

Never again at Hinsdale Hospital unless I dont have a choice because of the ambulance driver!"

: "Waited at the Vanderbilt ER after being laced with Cocaine and was never seen. I was freaking out because obviously I’ve never done Coke and the side effects were scary and unexpected. I was genuinely panicking in the waiting room and almost passed out from hyperventilating. I ended up waiting so long that I made it through the whole high, eventually calmed down on my own, and drove myself home. Apparently a coke high doesn’t last that long (thank God) but is really scary and intense…especially when you aren’t expecting it. Emotionally scarred forever." - DW
