These are the average time from entering the ER to being admitted to the hospital by a doctor. In a busy ER, patients will be seen by a triage nurse first. Then the wait time will vary by severity, and how busy the ER is at the time of day. Patients with less serious problems could have substantially longer waits.

There is a 160 minute wait difference between the fastest Washington emergency room and the slowest.

: "Went to Banner Estrella for chest pains. Have a history of heart attacks. Went to Tech. at front desk and he told me stand in line. Fortunately I was the only one but lady in front of me was registering a family (Only one (1) registration clerk). Was given ekg which was positive for ST elevations. Triaged fairly quickly by RN but then told to wait in waiting room. Still have chest pains, problems breathing and very tired. Waited 50 min. in waiting room. Security guard got me a wheelchair. Finally brought back to room and left there. No O2, no monitor hookup. RN, very nice, came in and gave me my aspirin. Was there for 12 hours as no beds avl. upstairs.\r\nI used to work at this hospital and it was great. If someone came in with chest pains and problems breathing we would find a way to get them back quickly. Very sad and disappointed this hospital has now come to this. I understand that they are very busy with the flu symptoms and also Maryvale Hospital closing but still failed with a possible heart attack patient. BTW was never checked by anyone while in the ER waiting room. Sad." - Ron

: "In Baptist last night for extreme abdominal pain. Waited 5 hours, never seen except for triage. There were people there that had been waiting from 12-15 hours, many appeared to be in pretty bad shape. Front desk staff is zero help with anything other than to shrug. After 5 hours of waiting I left after discovering that there were still well over a dozen people in front of me and they hadn't admitted anyone past triage for more than 4 hours. " - Sean

: "When I asked the intake nurse if the wait was long, she replied no. We waited over 2 hours to be seen by a doctor. This was a Friday morning at 10:00am that we arrived. I can't imagine what the weekend or night time would look like?! It's VERY FRUSTRATING when you see many people go in before you, especially when they don't appear to be serious." - Aim

: "times are not updated enough! remember folks their saving lives. did you get aflu shot? do you wash your hands? pick your nose ? rub eyes ? i waited 20 for ekg ,blood draw. returned to waiting room 4 hours.i was admitted. during that time i watched like 12 ambulances pull in.go to other care sources for colds, flu, small cuts. children usually can be treated only at ER.but overdoses wait in line you don't care about your life why should you get treatment first." - ricky

: "I talked with someone named Hollie about how my father was treated on November 24th , at the time I spoke with her she seemed concerned, I wrote a review, and after she called me , I have not heard a word from her , the lack of concern about my father is inexcusable, does she have her father and if she does would she not understand my concerns????? , I think about that day every day since taking him there ! this is my father I’m talking about , his life means something to me if it doesn’t to anyone there ! I will not forget that day as long as I live , to see my father in so much pain and no one even come in the room for 3 1/2 hours , I think about the triage nurse who thankfully knew how to change his Supra pubic catheter, and I thank god he was there ! Don’t ask a nurse if she wants to attempt to try to do this ! And glad she didn’t feel comfortable doing so , if you don’t know what your doing emergency room dr , don’t ask for a nurse to give it a try ! Not on my father you don’t , educate your drs to handle emergencies, that’s ehy they’re there or I would pray so ! " - Monica
