    Platte Valley ER Hospital Experience

3:30pm - Checked into the ER

There was only two people ahead of me.

I was sitting waiting for them to get me checked in.

4:45pm - I was still waiting and the ER was beginning to fill up. There were at least 10 people that came in after me and were admitted.  As I still waited my turn. I had asked for a cup of water which I was denied.    I was trying to take my medication.

6:35pm - I was finally called back to a room that had 3 beds and it was completely empty.  I was just told to get into the Hospital gown. And she left.  I looked around the room and there was not any pillows nor blankets for any of the beds. Just a empty room.

7:30pm - A nurse came in took my vitals & I had asked her for pillows & she said they don't give them out.  I had told her I hadn't seen the dr yet. She still didn't realize that I was not hooked up to the monitors yet.  I had no way to call the nurse station for help.

8:30pm - A Dr came in & asked why I came. He stayed less than 5 min. I told him that there were labs that were taken 3 hrs ago.  He left saying he was going to check on them.

10: 00pm  - I  asked where the dr  went. I  felt he forgot about me.

10:30pm -  He came back.  Said for me to see my primary doctor in a few days.  He didn't do any other tests. Just passed it off to my primary dr. Saying he thought I was just tired due to all my pain.

This was not a good experience.  Staff were not paying close attention from the beginning.

I should never had to wait that long in the waiting room not back in the room for the dr.  Wasn't hooked up to a monitor, nor offered anything to eat,  nor eat. NO Pillow nor blanket.

What is really sad is that I could have been a statistic, dying in the waiting room just like that lady did in your waiting room did.  You don't have enough staff to cover people coming through your doors. I've been there before anything your company had the best care from the staff. Now, even they are saying how they are being so stretched.  Not enough staff.  You have grown in numbers & can't keep up with the growth. We, the community need better service. You the service have to change.  You're charging enough money but aren't providing the service.  My heart goes out to the people who are working for you.  You will lose them.

I hope you take it to heart.  Change back to how you treated your staff & the community, as you did before.  You will win.

Platte Valley Medical Center: "I arrived to ER around 3:30pm.: There were only 2 other patients. I asked for water to take my meds & I was denied it. I was not called back for 3 hrs. By that time they had roomed 6 other patients that came after me. I was placed in an empty room with 3 beds. No mattress covers,no pillows. The nurse said they don't have them anymore.
The nurse didn't come in until 1:1/2 hrs. She didn't hook me up to the monitors. She just took my blood pressure. No way to call the nurses station, no way for them to be notified of my vitals. I could have had a heart attack and died. They wouldn.'t have known. I was not taken care of.
A PATIENT DIED WHILE WAITING TO BE ROOMED AT THIS HOSPITAL!
8:25pm - Dr. finally came in to see me. He hadn't look at my blood work. Just asked why I came in. Than left. Didn't notice I still wasn't put on any monitor. Left saying he was going to find my lab work.
9:15 A nurse brought another bed in & I asked for her to hook me up to the monitor.d
And for some water %to drink & something to eat"

Centura Health-St Anthony Hospital: "This is not right! Why are patitents waiting over 2 hours to be seen in the emergency room. This is wrong. My father is in real pain and throwing up yet is made to wait. If you are a trama 1 emergency then you should have better timing and heath care happening. But the worst part is tgey want your money, but they do nothing for it. So disappointed" - Taunya
