Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Stories

Wilkes-Barre General Hospital: "On Tuesday,August 23,2022 I was scheduled for knee surgery. My written instructions included fasting after midnight Monday and to report to the hospital at 4:30 Tuesday morning for registration. Upon arrival the front door at valet parking was locked. An employee reporting for work told me valet nor registration office will be open till 5AM. During registration I was told no surgeries are scheduled before 7AM and my surgery was scheduled for 10AM. Then around 8AM I was told my surgery was moved to 1PM. Imagine fasting for all that time when it was unnecessary. Fast forward to post surgery and room assignment.
For various reasons my stay at the hospital lasted 3 days. Not once in these 3 days was my ring for assistance answered within a reasonable time. The average response time of a nurse was 30 minutes and in a lot of cases over an hour before a nurse appeared. It got to the point that my husband would go to the nurses station to request assistance. Even then it would take up to 15 minutes before any response was had. This waiting time was not only once or twice but every time I rang for help in all three days. Every time a nurse would respond with the excuse that we do not have enough help.
I would just like to add that should I ever need to go to the hospital again it will not be the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. I hope somebody takes notice to this post and can rectify its inefficiencies. I am one very unsatisfied customer. "

Wilkes-Barre General Hospital: "I've been dealing with back issuesand I'm getting surgery in a week, last night a took a pretty big fall and had to go to the er. I sat there for 4 hours in the waiting before they took me back. When they got me in the back there were no doctors only a nurse practioner who treated me like I was seeking drugs. They took me for an xray which luckily didn't show anything out of place. Marcy the nurse practioner toldme she was going to give me shot of an anti-inflammatory, I explained to her that I can't have any of that BC I'm within my 7 days until surgery. She proceed to argue with me that my surgery is 10 days away when its clearly 7. Finally she said she would give me something different but she didn't have any nurses to give the shot to me and it would be hours until someone got around to it. A nurse came in 1/2 hour later and gave me the shot. It was like Marcy was just trying to "scare" me by saying I'd be there for hours more. 1/2hour after the shot I was able to go home. I've had multiple encounters with GeneralHospital and numerous times they've treated me like I'm seeking drugs, which is ridiculous I'm in actual pain or I wouldn't be getting a second back surgery. Never going there again Geisinger from here on out." - Alexandra
