Unm Hospital: "I took my brother to the ER one week after having surgery due to some concerns, and the ER was recommended by his surgeon's office. The waiting room was a dirty mess. The staff was RUDE and uncaring. Got there about 3:30 pm, at some point they drew blood and took him for a CT scan, then sat him back in the waiting room. At 8:44 they hollered his name and then told us they called him 3 times and we didn't answer so they had to put him back in the registration que. NOT TRUE, we never left the waiting room, and no one had called us until then. I tried speaking to the nurse and she totally ignored me, would not give me her name and her badge was turned where you could not see it. When we did finally get back hours later, the dr said there were no rooms and was just going to see us in the hallway. As a patient was leaving a room, he asked the nurse if the room was free, she said yes, and he took us in there without having the room sanitized. Overall, it has been the worst medical experience I have ever encountered, I understand it is busy but the dirtiness and no respect for patient privacy is a big concern. A person could die waiting in that place or catch something they didn't go in with. DO BETTER UNMH ER!" - Chris

Unm Hospital: "This place was so unsanitary. The only seat I saw sanitized was one for a former employee. Who by the way was given special treatment and spent less than 2 hours there while people crying in pain throwing up their entire stomach sat and waited for 10 hours. The toilet in the bathroom was covered in feces and vomit which was unfortunate because the paper towel dispenser was out or broken my guess is broken cause I saw paper towels in it. And the soap dispenser didn’t work. I dropped my glasses and was afraid to put them on my head. After getting my blood drawn the snotty receptionist told me I. Order to get back to the waiting room I had to press a red button located behind a unconscious man on a gurney. And when I asked if there was hand sanitizer I got scolded. The woman checking vitals would go from injured elderly people then to people puking their guts out to the next injured elderly person. I forced my self to stand for 7 hour in one spot because of how disgusting the waiting room was. And when my legs we’re about to give out I walked and asked a nurse if it’d be much longer, for which I was rudely scolded.
I have anxiety disorders ptsd and generalized anxiety disorder. As well as social anxiety disorder and agoraphobia. I was in a panic when the doctor finally called me back. I wouldn’t sit down because I was just so disgusted by their filth. And after everything I was told I was rude and why should they help me. And that the doctor didn’t want to see me. And that I would have to wait In the lobby till someone else was willing to put up with my anxiety. I had been there for 10 hours and was exhausted and ready to cry. And atthat point just wanted was a doctors note so I could leave and start working again. I was told I wouldn’t get one unless they made sure I was okay. I mean if I hadn’t had another seizure in the 10hours I was waiting then another one wasn’t gonna happen that day. I will never go back to this hospital and even canceled an MRI which is the only way to detect the bleeding in my brain that cause the seizures. It will take almost a year to see another neurologist at a reputable hospital. But hey I’d rather deal with my seizures by myself so I don’t have to step foot I. The hell hole ever again." - Alex

Unm Hospital: "HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT PEOPLE COULD BE SO SICK AND NOBODY BE AVAILABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM???? UNM HOSPITAL IS A JOKE. 8 HOURS? 10 HOURS? 12 HOURS?? HIRE SOME DOCTORS... DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO. THE MANAGEMENT HERE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.. PATHETIC AT BEST" - daniel

Unm Hospital: "Loved one was ambulanced to UNM ED with possible stroke symptoms. 6 hours waiting and still no Dr. Making it worse, although loved one was only waiting in a hallway, I was refused access to her.
Could not be worse patient service. As poor as New Mexico hospitals are, this was my worst experience ever. " - Marc
