Spectrum Health - Butterworth Campus: "If I had to weigh the pros and construction of Spectrum Buttrrworth Campus I believe the cons would win. My daughter was admitted Sunday after suffering a seizure that resulted in a bilateral mandibular fractures, upper fracture, numerous fractured teeth, laceration under her chin with 7 stitches and now in ICU with her jaw wired shut. Although I have been happy with the staff and their efforts I feel the way family members are treated horribly. Absolutely no concern for family members. Being I live about 52 miles away and followed the Ambulance down with another person. I was unable to get money from my closed credit union so am basically penniless as I support my child. I had to sleep on 3 folding chairs pushed together the first night. Have never been offered food or somewhere to sleep. She was unable to even get into surgery until 28 hours after the injury. Surgery was not successful so she was transferred to ICU. Still family offered no food or bed. There are pamplets all over the hospital with rave reviews about the hospitality house but unfortunately unless you have 45 dollars a day you will not be able to access these services. I did manage to fall asleep for 2 hrs on a bed on the floor I made up for myself in my daughters ICU room but then was awakened by 2 nurses telling I was not allowed to sleep on the floor via hospital policies because the floor are a health hazard. So now into day three with no food and 4 hours of sleep. Went and got a cup of coffee (can drink that to my hearts content) I noticed The Family lounge had family members scattered in every available area they could find to sleep and yes there were people sleeping on the floor there. Guess it's exceptible if you're not actually by your child's side to sleep on the floor when no other options exist. I honestly feel the corporate money changers at spectrum buttrrworth should have pompoms with a banner saying if we are collecting insurance hoe can we help, if not screw off. Very sad to see how far this hospital has gone downhill. Money first.... Disgusting!!! 0" - Rebecca
