Saint Marys Hospital: "EKG and bloodwork done an hour after we got here. It has now been 6 and half hours and no clue how much longer before we see doctor...WOW unbelievably ridiculous." - Oh

Saint Marys Hospital: "2-3 hours my right butt cheek. On average you head in there, prepare to spend the whole day in that ER. A lot of these learning nurses are unwilling to learn and the older ones are vexed as heck. They are often careless, if not negligent. But in waterbury you have 2 options. And they know it. Nonetheless, from my mom to myself to my partner, you look at at least 6 hours. Currently waiting on my partner who has been in the waiting room since 2pm (currently 3 minutes to 8pm) with gastrointestinal bleeding. The actual doctors are kind enough at the er. This swaps when out of the ER, where everyone becomes a mixed bag. And God forbid you need mental help, they stick you in literal boxes with no safety measures to protect anyone from anyone." - Alexandria

Saint Marys Hospital: "LEFT AFTER 11 HOUR WAIT... Our doctor sent us from his office straight to St. Mary's ED to get a cat scan. My husband had extensive swelling of his face from cellulitis and the doctor feared that the infection could be behind the eye, (which might cause blindness or move into the brain). We got there at 2:30 pm on Friday, 9/9/22. After about an hour he saw a triage nurse who told us they had the report from the doctor but it might be 30 min to an hour before he saw a doctor. After a few hours we checked with front desk and were told no cat scan had been ordered yet (even thought that is what our Doctor had said he needed in his report), they were waiting for a doctor to see us first. We continued to wait along with others. One older woman came in with a cut on her leg that had bleed profusely and had been bandaged with paper towels and duct tape by her husband. An older woman who was VERY disoriented was there with her daughter and kept trying to wander away. There were others waiting. At 1:30 am, after nearly 11 hours we were told no doctor would schedule a cat scan until they saw my husband and the desk had no idea at all when that might be. We opted to leave without being seen. (So did the older woman whose bleeding leg was bandaged by her husband with duct tape and others) There has to be improvement at St Mary's ED. " - Diane

Saint Marys Hospital: "The ER is atrocious! We have been here for over 8 hours and are STILL in the waiting room! The water fountain is broken, so don't expect any hydration while you wait. The girl at the desk looks at you like you're the biggest bother to her. How about liking your job? Maybe they should hire more doctors for the ER so patients don't have to spend a full day waiting to be seen for their emergency. This place is horrible! Don't come here.

Saint Marys Hospital: "Brought in my ambulance due to wound and bleeding for 3 days and needed a blood transfusion no doubt. Waited 6 hours and still no one checked on me. I am a diabetic no one checked my sugar and even ordered bloood work. I was kept in the hallway and people that came in after me got more medical attention and a room. They said they go by the severtity. Well I have Congestive heart failure and i had chest pain and weak and that was not good enough. I was there 3 weeks prior for surgery and they were just as terrible. Tracey in triage was so rude yelling at me when i asked y it was taking so long for care. She said I had to wait my turn like everyone else and then got a security guard to come harrass me cause I stuck up for myself. I also asked for her supervisor and she said sure and never sent them to talk to me. Unreal this place is so terrible. They had one doctor making people wait for 10 plus hours to be seen. Please don't waste your time to go there find a better hospital trust me it is not worth the trouble. The staff needs to be trained how to care for sick people. " - Sue

Saint Marys Hospital: "On the order of my PC provider, I went to St Mary's emergency room back in March with Sudden Hearing Loss. Turned out I had a mild TIA stoke.
A 10 hr wait in the ER for such a condition is UNFORGIVABLE!
As a result of the findings, I needed Coriatic surgery, later performed at the hospital for the blockage in my artery. During which I was treated with unnecessary indignity pre-op due to the fact I needed a Foley tube inserted.
As an older male, I know when my youthful life has passed me... I don't need to be reminded by hospital staff. (as I was told was said in the O.R.)
They almost couldn't wait to put me out before the procedure."

Saint Marys Hospital: "The Emergency Department is terrible!
No Covid-19 safety precautions for patients.
Patients left in the hallways on beds ALONE.
The nurse's and doctor's are rude and have no compassion for caring for patients. There was ONLY ONE doctor there with an overloaded emergency room. Why didn't they call more doctor's to come and help? Doctors and nurses are Public Servants who serve our community.. not disregard and not care for the 40 people who were there seeking medical care for their illness. It was more important for the staff to socialize with each other and talk on their personal phone than to hear a patient screaming for help.
Patients were left alone for hours waiting to be seen by the doctor. Family and friends of patients were forced to sit in their car for hours to get updates on their loved ones.
Unprofessional, Incompetent, Not trained, no staffing , unacceptable environment for a hospital, no compassion, no care, and trying to add more to your bill with unnecessary tests or procedures; financial gain is all they care about. Absolutely disgusting and do not recommend! After this terrible experience the Health Department will definitely investigate and hopefully Saint Mary's Hospital will become a safe place for hospital care.
