Riverview Regional Medical Center Stories

Riverview Regional Medical Center: "Husband was called to hospital from doctors office with critical high potassium and low H&H. Was over 6 hours after admission before an IV was started. I unit of blood had to be wasted due to hanging in the room too long. Could have been returned, but inexperienced nurse not aware of protocal and did not check patency of IV before spiking bag. One compression hose was applied and the other left on chair. Machine never turned on. Very slow to respond to c/o chest pain. No oxygen applied by nurse, although in room and turned on. Patient was called by another person,s name twice. When patient said he did not like this hospital, he was abruptly discharged with no follow up instructions, no prescriptions, 15 lbs of fluid overload. This hospital is rated the poorest in Alabama.
