Providence St Vincent Medical Center: "I have had a major problem getting even a live person on the phone to schedule an apt for a Dexa Scan. I left my phone number with the dept for 5 days, have heard nothing.
Also, I have a pacemaker battery replacement scheduled for Wed. March 8. However, I have to go to Providence Portland for the procedure. Why? Both of my cardiologists are at St Vincent. These 2 instances are concerning and I am seriously considering changing insurances next year." - Carolyn

Providence St Vincent Medical Center: "Avoid this facility if possible. Go to one of the other area ED’s where systemic organization is in place. At St. Vincent the goal is getting you into their lobby at all costs. Waiting is 6-7 hours, understandibly, however lack of transparency when one even asks rank in cue is appalling. Of course there is no accurate estimate….but we all realize that due to emergent situation one cd be delayed. Also, OHSU will be honest, disclose how many are waiting etc. and you can wait outside! Providence needs a new system and implementation of streamlined process in this department. " - Deborah

Providence St Vincent Medical Center: "If you have an emergency, don't bother. They check your vitals and then send you to sit in a waiting area without ever mentioning you will now be waiting 4 to 7 hours. It'd be a lot better knowing that little fun fact instead of continually thinking you're going to be called back any minute for 240+ minutes." - Doesnt

Providence St Vincent Medical Center: "My ER experience was horrible. I came in with a severe allergic reaction. After initial exam, I was told my vitals were still good so there would be a 7 hour wait. Despite being in obvious distress and unable to breathe well, I was put off several times with "your vitals are still good." I was ultimately taken in to see a doctor when I couldn't breathe and nearly fainted. Completely unacceptable. " - Anne

Providence St Vincent Medical Center: "Triage system is horrible. I came in with severe allergic reaction (anaphalaxis). Upon initial exam, was told there was a 7 hour wait. I was in obvious distress and having difficulty breathing. I was told my vitals were still good and would need to wait. The waiting room was not very full. I question the ER organization. It definitely needs lots of improvement.
