Providence Holy Family Hospital Stories

Providence Holy Family Hospital: "This was the worst hospital experience in my whole life!! I went there in so much pain I was balling my eyes out! I waited for 7 hrs! Crying the whole time. I had an IV started after 4hrs of waiting. So I assumed I would be seen soon after. It was another 3 hrs. No one ever came to check if I was alright! Or why I was crying. I got there at 5 in the evening and got a bed finally at almost 1 in the morning. I had to be dropped off by a family member because I was actually here on vacation with my 4yr old granddaughter. So I was stuck there waiting. When I did get back to a bed they did blood work and finally got something to help with the pain and then I had a CT scan. Then they gave me something that didn't help with the pain and when I told them it was getting bad still I got something else that didn't help. They then gave me a prescription of what didn't help and said that I was being discharged. I was still crying when I left there! " - Michelle

Providence Holy Family Hospital: "Where do I start. Brought my wife Karyn Cantrell whom is a stage 3 pancreatic cancer patient she was vomiting blood and in horrible shape in at midnight last night said 1 1/2 hour wait and I get a call at 4:30 am from her stating you all put her in a wheelchair and put her in a corner section of waiting room for 4 1/2 hours later and 4 nurses later ignoring her questions she still hadn’t been seen. You guys should be ashamed to call your facility patient caring we will be filing a complaint especially because my wife could have died in your waiting room and you obviously don’t care . After stating our experience on Facebook we have had a large number of people speak out about how horrible your ER is. We will never use your facility again " - Shane

Providence Holy Family Hospital: "Arrived at Holy Family at 2pm on Monday 4/26. I had been to Hawthorne Urgent Care and was sent to HF via my own car. Checked in and waiting until 6:30 pm to be seen. The waiting room was semi full and many of the patients were throwing up, crying, yelling etc. I have been here before and it is always the same. The front Nurse was helpful but this is not what I consider good patient care. Really there must be a better way. I am and RN and know how to give care. I am pretty sure I will not be back. Providence Holy Family Hospital: "Went to Holy Family 11/20/2020 with severe back and neck pain. Dr. was just plain rude and could of cared less. I know I was incoherent so is that any reason to treat me like I'm some piece of crap. Turned me over on my side without any consideration as to my pain. He wasn't in that room 3 mins and I never saw him again. If your incoherent you would think they would want to find out why. One nurse who came in to ask me questions about Covid talked to me with the greater than thou attitude and I was the stupidest thing in the world. I even heard her make snide sounds.Again no consideration to the fact that I was in extreme pain, they drugged me up with TORADOL and who knows what else. Never gave me a pillow and after an hour laying there someone threw a light sheet on the end of the bed. I had to get up to look for the call button and to adjust the bed as the nurse kept me in a straight up sitting position. Came in and gave me a chest x-ray and then I was taken down for an MRI contrast for my stomach! WHAT ARE YU KIDDING ME! NO ONE COME IN AND CHECKED ON ME EXCEPT TO THROW PAPERS ON THE END OF THE BED PULL THE SHEET OFF ME AND SAY "YOU CAN GET UP AND GET DRESSED AND GO HOME"! I WA IN SUCH PAIN AND HAD THE HARDEST TIME EVEN GETTING UP. NO ONE ECER CAME AND CHECKED ON ME OR ASKED IF I NEEDED HELP GETTING DRESSED. i HAD TO CALL FOR SOMEONE TO COME PICK ME UP. I WAS DIZZY IN AND OUT OF IT NOT ONE STAFF PERSON CAME TO HELP ME WALK OUT TO THE MAIN DOORS NO GOODBYE NO KISS MY ...... I DON'T CARE I AM PISSED. I FELL ASLEEP ON THE BENCH AT THE DOORS AND THE PERSON WHO PICKED ME UP HAD A HARD TIME WAKING ME UP I WAS OUT. WHEN I WOKE UP I WAS IN MORE PAIN THEN WHEN I WENT. DIZZY BOUNCING OFF THE HALL WALL TO THE BATHROOM. TO TOP IT OFF I GET IN THE SHOWER AND HERE I STILL HAVE TO EKG OR WHATEVER THEY USED THEM FOR STUCK TO MY CHEST. NOW ARE YOU REALLY KIDDING ME. THAT'S JUST BEING PLAIN JERKS.
THEY DID NOT DO ONE THING FOR THE REASON I WENT IN FOR. AND MISS COVID RIGHTOUS COMES IN AND ASKS ME WHY I THOUGHT I HAD COVID. I NEVER SAID I HAD COVID I NEVER SAID ANYHTING OF THE SORT. I ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS THEY ASK YES COUGH ETC... WHERE DOES SHE COME OFF WITH HER RIGHTOUSNESS.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED WITH SUCH UTTER DISRESPECT AND UNCARING. I DON'T KNOW WHY ONLY CERTAIN ONES ARE EVEN THERE, THOSE SELECT FEW SHOULD BE PUT ON LEAVE WITHOUT PAY THINK ABOUT THEIR ATTITUDE AND WHY THEY CHOSE THAT LINE OF WORK. ACTUALLY DR AND ONE NURSE SHOULD BE FIRED IF THAT'S HOW THEY TREAT THEIR PATIENTS.
I had a virtual appt with my Dr. a couple days before and she is the one who told me to there and get lab work and have them check my back.
I don't think going to the hospital is fun and I have to be pretty bad if I take myself in.
I had issues earlier in the year and of course there was nothing wrong with me and one Dr says one thing another no you don't have that so I end up almost dying from Sepsis and cellulitis. With my main Dr who said in her own words that Providence Urgent Care Drs didn't know what they were talking about. I didn't have cellulitus. I had an allergic reaction to soap or somthing.
What I hate more is their refusal to admit they made a mistake or to apologize.
I never do these letters because nothing ever comes of them.
That Dr and nurse should pay me for the hours I they dumped me and left me all alnone and for the hours I'm still suffering at home"

Providence Holy Family Hospital: "Took my son there for rabies shots. Had been to two other hospitals & was told cats dont transmit rabies. It just doesn't happen. Open viewing the a video made by the usa renowned expert on rabies supported by the CDC, states that not only do cats carry rabies and are responsible for 5% of rabies cases every year in the USA, THEY ARE 5X MORE LIKELY THAN A DOG TO HAVE RABIES! when you consider a lot of people don't get their cat shots and the cats love to catch birds or bats which look very similar to birds, that explains a lot of the reasoning behind them being so likely and the most likely domestic animal to get rabies. The doctor there wanted to argue with me but I wasn't leaving unless you watch the video first or gave my son the shot, one of the two. Also after he'd been given his 8 shots and I left with paperwork in hand I read the rabies insert which specifically States do not ever give rabies shots in the butt, not the children not to adults. Guess where his last shot was given...yes, the butt. Upon notifying nursing &later a doctor, i was told both times that they just write whatever in those inserts. If a patient reports they had a bad thought it gets put in the insert. Funny, i thought the insert came from the same people who made the drug, did all the testing, and mb knew more about the drug than some ER nurse who has.never given a rabies shot her whole 7 year career, not the other nurse with a 20yr ER career. I was also told on 2 occasions that I should take my son to his PCP for this, not the ER. As if I was drug seeking lol. Funny also as the ONLY PLACE THAT VARRIERS THE RABIES VACCINE IN ALL CITIES IS THE ER!! what exactly was his pcp supposed to do? Send us to the ER? The iq in that place is kicking ass..or maybe that was donkey? Cant recall. " - Jennifer
