Piedmont Hospital: "First, I need to say that I have gone to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta for over 50 years. My Piedmont physcians are excellent.

Sadly, Piedmont management seems to have no concern for patients with mobility issues.

I recently had a cardiac CT scan scheduled. I was told in advance there would be transport chairs by the door and the guard could call someone to push me to the registration area which is now a long hall in the opposite direction of the imaging area. Help is necessary because my husband and I both have medical issues that will not allow us to lift walkers or push transport chairs. (My husband and I are in the 95 Building a few times a year and there are very seldom any transport chairs available but we had no help that day and had to hope for the best.)

There were no transport chairs available when I checked in but the guard promptly called for a chair and someone to push it. While I was in a nearby restroom someone named Tia brought a chair and left if by my husband so she could help someone else. When she came back I asked her to help me. Her response was that she could not because she had to go back to the registration area to get someone. At that point I walked to the cardiac imaging area which was nearby and asked if I could register there as I had in years past. That is no longer permitted but as least they knew I was there and waiting for help to register.

Tia went by again going to registration. At that point the guard told me that it was really busy and I might have to reschedule my test because I was now late. I told him I had been on time and had informed the front desk person in the imaging center that I had arrived and was waiting for assistance to get to registration AND that Tia had walked pass me twice and could have pushed me there. Furthermore, I was not going to reschedule because I had been taking medication and fasting to prepare for the procedure.

Tia then got my paperwork from registration (i had preregistered as requested.) and someone wheeled me to the cardiac imaging area while my husband walked behind.

Piedmont Hospital staff have been professional and kind in the past and most of the people we deal with are now. Management needs to re-examine logistics keeping in mind that people are there because they have physical issues. There needs to be more assistance provided and better training for staff. At least get some wheelchairs that don't require a staff member to push them -- electric or large wheels that can be hand-operated--and make certain there are always some available.

Piedmont Hospital: "Having taken people there on an emergency visits (further to the advice of physicians in the Piedmont system) and been myself a patient at Piedmont Hospital Atlanta, I am astounded by the fall in standards, the low quality and casual and aggressive vulgarity of para-medical personnel who are staffing the front lines, facing the public. Shiny , tall, new facility facing Peachtree St is deceiving if the core function of emergency admission and care is handled with such loutish mismanagement. Covid is past us; adjust pay scales to be competitive with the Emory hospital group; install proven professional leadership at the top; keep in mind that neglecting your flagship to spread your wings across the state is not a strategy that pays off in the medium run before the media and public opinion renders judgement and consequent loss of reputation." - Jon

Piedmont Hospital: "My partner's leg bcame very swollen after a serious bout with arthritis; called GP, who worried that a blood clot was forming. We arrived at Piedmont Emergency room around 10 pm. We briefly saw a Dr. who was said to be performing "triage". He looked at the leg and told us to wait until we are called. We were finally taken in for observation treatment at 6:00 AM--an eight hour wait. My partner was in serious pain and standing made it worse. I found a wheel chair for him, but just minutes later a staff member came and demanded he give up the wheel chair. The waiting room was packed and we try to avoid such situations because of covid worries, so we sat on very hard chairs for 8 hours. I'll never go there again--it's chaos, and calling it an emergency room is ridiculous!" - Bryaan

Piedmont Hospital: "Arrived at Rockdale ER at 5:30a Sunday 1/7 it is now 9:30a and my daughter has not seen a doctor yet. The have given her a bag of fluids and X-ray a CT scan but no doctor. She suffers from migraine headaches as a result of spinal meningitis. Apparently this pain level is not serious enough to warrant even a initial check from a doctor, but it is enough for a doctor to order labs and X-ray to run up a bill. From what I am being told there is only 1 doctor on staff in this ER??REALLY!!! Shame on you Piedmont. Rockdale Medical Center quality of care was much better without you" - Zina

Piedmont Hospital: "Brought in by ambulance after fall down a flight of stairs. Loss of consciousness, fractured ankle & possible hip injury. After 3 hours sitting in wheel chair in lobby (cause they needed the stretcher). I had still not been seen - after numerous requests for one of the staff to help me to the bathroom, someone in the waiting room finally helped me. I called an Uber to take me to ST Joseph's (the uber driver & others waiting in lobby helped me to the car as I was unable to walk). Not one staff member attempted to assist me. I was promptly treated at St Joeseph, had surgery & an recouperating. I am appalled at the treatment I received at Piedmont & the total rudeness & disregard by their staff." - Debbie
