I am consistently floored by the lack of patient care at Nash Countys' Nash Hospital UNC in rocky mount, NC.
The patients are treated more like cattle than human beings.
Example: a gentleman dressed in his work clothes given a bit of gauze for a bleeding finger and an ice pack at 4 pm. At 9:30 pm the ice has melted and he asks the receptionist for more help and more ice, neither of which he receives.
Example: a 73 year old woman facing possible bowel perforation told to sit and wait her " turn"? There is no "turn" in such a life-threatening situation. The bowel did rupture and the woman has a vacuum pump sucking out e-coli from her organs in hopes that she will survive.
This hospital is the only game in town and , as such, has been complacent in Emergency Care for many years.
Please help this community, our children our mothers and fathers, by investigating this medical entity and possibly bringing about change for those in need.
Warmest Regards

Nash General Hospital: "DO NOT GO TO UNC NASH GENERAL ER. We checked in at 6pm, there were only 4 people in the lobby upon check in. I did not go to the back to be seen until 9pm and AFTER being given a room, the doctors or nurses DID NOT appear to check on me until 1am. They have the worst service EVER! I hoped they would improve being they are now UNC Nash. Mind you, I had been vomiting for 72hrs and not being able to keep anything down. I was told to wait in the lobby after having my vitals taken and to no avail I STILL did not get back any quicker than someone with basic cold symptoms. The nurse even informed me upon checking my vitals that my heart rate was extremely low which was alarming because normally when in pain, your heart rate increases. After constant vomiting of bile and stomach fluids, I STILL had not received any meds or an IV until 3am. YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO DIE To be seen right away. Sad but true. " - K.

Nash General Hospital: "There at the end of july. They were going to send me home with bus tokens because no one in my family would come and get me. My daughter had brought me and had not left. Only after my daughter told er doc that she was going to take me to Greenville he was rude to her. Claimed I was better because he came in and I was a sleep. She told him that wasn't true because she had not left the room and he had not been in the room. So he said he would give a shot for pain. Nurse came in gave shot and said wait 30 min before we left and let them know we were leaving. Getting ready to leave when they came to get me for ct scan. Had a blockage and had to be admitted. They evidently had me mixed up with someone else. 3rd floor nurses were great. Told the nurse on 3rd floor an someone from er came to talk to us. Got letter of appology. Never go to the er at Nash without someone you can depend on to talk for you. Need better doctors on hospital staff.
