Methodist Willowbrook Hospital: "I went to willowbrook Methodist ER after having surgery on my nose 3 wks prior I hadn’t felt good all day then nose started to bleed & I mean not a nosebleed as they stated I bleed profusely for 5-6 hours with lots a blood clots so that tells you that this was a hemorrhage their was no clotting going on. But back to the hospital staff their were a lot of people sitting in waiting rm their was this old man sitting in wheelchair that had been their since 10:30 am & it was now 7 pm so I continued to soak towels while all they could do was yell about anyone not being seen needed to leave well let me tell you if my husband did go which he argued with them he was leaving I would have fell on my head on the floor when I eventually passed out! Also when they finally got my vitals my blood pressure was very high & one nurse said should we give her something to get that down & the other nurse replied no they will take care of that in the back well how many hours would I have had to bleed since their was no stopping it & they kept saying squeeze your nose hell I just had sinus surgery with a lot of work done & I’m gonna squeeze my nose! Well it took me passing out to get a room. The problem their is they need to take care of people on the seriousness of their case! Sitting in a waiting room changing towel after towel bleeding horribly with a real high blood pressure after having surgery is so uncalled for & on top of that having all those people in the waiting room looking at the blood just going everywhere is unbelievable!! I understand their busy but they have the rudest non caring ER staff ever & they will never see me again!! The worse experience in my life & if my husband would have left like they wanted I may be in worse shape then I was they would of been sued if I fell out of chair & hit my head on the floor when I passed out!! HORRIBLE!!" - Deborah

Methodist Willowbrook Hospital: "Summary:
Stay away from Houston Methodist Willowbrook ER if you want to avoid being misdiagnosed and receive negligent, substandard care from an ER that is not compassionate or caring! I went to there on 3/20/22 with a fractured plateau head of the tibia and a 33 millimeter indention of the right kneecap. They diagnosed me with a ‘sprained’ knee. I need to mention that I am 70 years old and live alone, as that is part of this nightmare experience there. In summary, Houston Methodist Willowbrook made the following negligent mistakes:
• Misdiagnosed my injury; it was much more severe than their diagnosis of a sprained knee.
• Didn’t follow ER procedure by getting a follow-up CT Scan to verify the correct extent of my injuries (as this is standard medical practice for an elderly person like me). Consequently, I suffered many days of undue pain and suffering until I could get into an orthopedic surgeon’s office.
• Didn’t provide adequate pain meds – only one 50 mg tramadol tablet
• Didn’t provide a doctor to see me, despite my 3 requests to a person who identified herself as a ‘nurse practitioner’ 3 times. A doctor must be provided upon request, but this ER doesn’t do this.
• Falsely billed my insurance for a “Physician’s Assistant” care when the only care I received was from a tired, nurse practitioner falsely stating she was working under a doctor.
• Sent me home without proper support, home health care, and social services
• Couldn’t arrange me transport home when it was obvious I was in so much pain that I couldn’t get into a SUV.
I would never recommend Houston Methodist Willowbrook ER to anyone. It is shameful care. I wish I could rate it at 0 stars.
Details:
Houston Methodist Willowbrook ER only did an X-ray that showed no broken bones, then sent me home with 1 tramadol pill, although on a scale of 1-10 pain, I was clearly a 15 and had to be lifted by a male aide just to go to the bathroom standing. They didn’t take the extra 5 minutes it would have taken to get a CT scan which would have shown my extensive injuries. I have since learned from friends in the medical profession that it is ER procedure for elderly people like me who suffer a debilitating knee injury (that doesn’t allow them to stand or walk) to be immediately taken to get a CT Scan, even if the X-rays don’t show a break, the CT Scan will if there is a break or muscle tear. It takes so little time and would have avoided undue pain and suffering on my part. So clearly, Houston Methodist Willowbrook ER didn’t follow standard medical procedures with me.
Additionally, I pleaded 3 times to see any doctor because I knew a doctor could be able to diagnose that I had at least one broken bone. The bleached, blonde, middle aged, nurse said she was a ‘nurse practitioner” and was taking instructions from a doctor. She didn’t care and was very callous. When I received my online statement, it showed Houston Methodist Willowbrook ER charged me for the services of a Physician’s Assistant, whom I never saw, which is another insult to my injuries. For whatever reason, the nurse practitioner didn’t get a doctor to see me despite my 3 requests. My understanding is that by law, if a patient asks for a doctor, one must be provided. I now wonder if there was even a doctor there that night.
Furthermore, I was there from around 6PM to 1:30AM which is odd since the ambulance brought me in as a Level 2 trauma since I am on blood thinners and injected fentanyl into my kneecap for the pain. I was treated as an urgent case during the ambulance ride but NOT at this terrible ER.
Finally, the aide couldn’t get me into my friend’s SUV and despite help from an unknown man who was trying to lift me, I didn’t fit into the SUV with the knee brace I had been fitted into. They sent me back to the ER for transport to be arranged. I waited another one and a half hours while no transport was provided. Knowing that I would probably have to wait hours longer in an ER that had a dancing child playing in the waiting area, I took off the brace and it took 3 people to load me into a friend’s SUV.
I was sent home without any social services such as home health care lined up and had no way to get inside my house or take care of myself. My friend couldn’t lift me, so we called my local constable’s office that sent out a deputy to lift me into my house and carry me to my bed. Days later, I got into see an orthopedic surgeon who was able to diagnose me correctly within seconds and a CT scan got schedule to confirm the diagnosis. By then, 9 days had passed since the fall.
I would never recommend Houston Methodist Willowbrook ER to anyone. It is shameful, callous, and inhumane there.

Methodist Willowbrook Hospital: "I would give this place a no star if I could. I went in because they advertised on the web that they had people that you could go talk to. I was just feeling little down from loosing my dad. As soon as they got my ins. info, it was like they hit the lotto. I guess they thought I was crazy or something. They kept me against my own will, and sent me to a mental hospital. I have never in my life done drugs, I do not smoke, I do not drink, and I have never had a speeding ticket in my life. But this place treated me like a criminal 100%!!! If you need help or a better hospital PLEASE do not come here!!!!!!! I BEG YOU TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!" - Michelle
