Mercy Medical Center: "I gotta say I took my wife to mercy ER, and I have NEVER seen such a less professional looking staff of personnel at any place, hospital or otherwise, in a business environment. Get rid of the tattoos and pink hair, and get into some type of uniform. You all look like slobs. Get some doctors that know how to read x-rays instead of pa’s that can’t decide if a bone is fractured or not, but just in case, we’ll pretend it is. Sad, sad, sad. I was told never to go there, but had to see for myself." - Ron

Mercy Medical Center: "On3/18/21 I went into to the ER at Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, Oregon. I had been coughing up blood for about 4 days, due to a form of Cystic fibrosis. I have had small bleeds called Hemoptysis which is a part of my lung disease. But with this amount I was becoming extremely concerned any amount over a teaspoon is a warning sign that you are in serious trouble. I told the receptionist at the window that I had lung disease and had been coughing up blood. She took my information , and had me wait in the covid section of the ER. Even though I did not have covid. I was temperature checked at the entrance before going to recpetionsist's window. I was still continuing to cough up excessive amounts of blood. It was about 10 minutes and I was called to enter their triage. Once again they asked me more questions. Did all the blood pressure blah blah. I was then given a Iv which I told them would not work. It failed 3 times before they got one to stay for a few minutes. Small veins. I told them that I needed a pick line. Oh we don't do those in the ER. Finally after getting their blood sample. I was put in a patient room. Where I waited for the attending Doctor. This was Dr Jennifer Bodeinhammer. I explained to her that I was concerned about how much blood and the amount of days that the bleed had gone on. She ordered a ex -ray and that blood test, but that was all. She really didn't listen to me when I said that I really should be admitted for observation. She seemed to think that the blood thinner that I had been taking was causing my excessive bleed, that could have contributed, but when she got the ex-ray results she said that they was no change in my lungs. I was extremely doubtful when I was bleeding at this length of time. Well I went home and tried to get some rest. I returned the next day by ambulance for the same complaint. Dr Bodenhammer ,was on duty again that night. She once again stated that it was my blood thinner contributing to my bleeding. I was now screaming at her this has been going on for 5 days, She stated that she is a professional and knows about these things. She said well you have these bleeds. This was not a normal bleed that I would usually get. And they do not usually go over a day. I had asked her for help . She ignored me , and sent me home again with no resolution to my issue. It was the next morning about 5:30 am that I was awaken by a cough and more blood. I informed my husband that I was still bleeding. It was then decided that I needed to find medical assistance elsewhere. I chose to be driven to Portland, to be seen at OHSU. I was admitted within 5 min of arriving. They had documentation on me as I had been there previously in Feb 2021. It wad determined with the proper tests such as another ex-ray and CT imaging that the diagnoses of the blood thinner causing the problem was not correct. I had a bleeding vessel in my right lung. with the proper diagnosis , I received the right treatment. I received an embolization which stopped the blood loss. I was there for 4 days and also received IV therapy with antibiotics to control a ongoing bacterial infection of Psuedomonas I am doing much better and am continuing the rest of my antibiotic therapy at home. I would not have had to go elsewhere for my treatment, if that hospital would have done the correct diagnosis of my condition. They could have caused my death by not giving me the right treatment. They chose to ignore my complaint. I suggest that you never get any care from this hospital they are deaf when you try to express your concerns. Or worse yet they don't do any more than is considered important, If OHSU had not done this , the bleeding vessel in my right lung would have never been discovered or corrected. " - Nila
