Manatee Memorial Hospital Stories

Manatee Memorial Hospital: "This hospital is an absolute nightmare!! My husband spent 4 days in the ER with covid, never received a room, and was left to die. I received a call on the 4th day from my husband’s phone at 2:36 in the morning from a hospital staff member to give me an update. She then tells me that “we found him 20 minutes ago.” So cold, and non-empathetic. I arrived with our 2 younger children shortly after and again the same feeling from the hospital staff. I was left numb, feeling empty and not one hospital member felt any form of compassion. I knew something was off because I have texts of my husband telling me that he had a roommate with covid not as sick as him that was given a room. My husband also gave me some details of asking for pain meds, a commode and still an hour later…. Nothing. So I sent for his medical records and learned through them that he was found on the floor and believed to have been dead for 30 minutes. It could have been longer. Going off of the records no one had been in his room since 10:00 pm. I guess they don’t listen to alarms in the ER. I guess having “fall risk” on the person’s chart means nothing. If I knew how horrific this ER was, I would have never allowed my husband to step foot in there. That was the first and only time anyone from the hospital called me. Even after my husband passed you would think someone would have called to check on our family with such a tragic loss. Stay clear, and if your family member was in there and you have a gut wrenching feeling something is off….. send for records!" - Patti

Manatee Memorial Hospital: "Very dissatisfied with care so far... nurses are afraid of doctors, to the point of jeopardizing the outcome of patients. Staff is rarely seen , and very appalling to see patients in their beds around the nurses station hall naked and sideways in their beds ... moaning!! Unacceptable " - Pat
