Loyola University Medical Center: "Mission statement: Treating the human spirit…is a joke. The ER in Maywood is a nightmare for anyone unfortunate enough to have to be there. After going to Immediate Care as directed by your website due to shortness of breath, I was sent to the ER. I was reassured that the waiting time was no more than an hour. Lies! The ER receptionist didn’t know what to do with my paperwork. When I asked how long the wait she was clueless. How many before me I asked, blank face! The pea colored congested room doesn’t have enough chairs spread out for safety for Covid or flu. People coughing, a man holding an old rag covered with blood to the back of his head that had been gashed, babies whimpering who needed urgent attention, those with injuries and no staff seemed to care. Doors would open and close as you sit hoping your name would be called. No rhyme nor reason! I couldn’t believe that a hospital that has a beautiful cafeteria has a filthy cramped freezing waiting room. The outside door would open and close constantly while 2 indifferent security guards sit in their office seeing this all unfolding. A child had a seizure and the mother was screaming for help. No staff member even batted an eye. We were mortified! It was heartbreaking! “Get a doctor now”, someone screamed. Why can’t there be help stations for specific ailments so at least you don’t just sit for hours on end watching and hoping you or others don’t pass out. Tables, comfortable chairs and beautiful decorations at the immediate care in Burr Ridge to a hell hole where people are desperate for any kind of attention and not receiving so much as a wet rag. The unsanitary restrooms were disgusting also. The door locks were broken. Drinking fountains? Seriously? After 4 hours I left. Ridiculous! Put your money where your mouth is! Shame on you Loyola! When will you treat the human spirit? " - Jane

Loyola University Medical Center: "There is a female Dr in this ER that has absolutely NO BUSINESS in the ER. She is absolutely incapable of assessing the need for a sick patient to be admitted to the hospital. . If you are unfortunate enough to end up in this ER and you are told you won’t be admitted, tell them you disagree. Sign the papers saying you disagree if you are not admitted and believe you belong in the hospital. She and another male doctor are NOT competent enough to decide. They are both a disgrace. " - NA
