Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center: "My sister was brought by ambulance for SOB due to covid. First, she said in the ER small room ( size of a closet, just big enough for a bed) for 29 hours with having covid pneumonia, flu, flu pneumonia. Countless times her oxygen dropped into the high 80’s but they did nothing but put her on oxygen they nasal cannula. She was quarantined so she couldn’t get help from nurses to use bathroom. I called 10 hours in and ask that they get her a bed ( so she wants laying on a stretcher) and I get told yes we can do that but then told the room she is in is too small for a bed. ( it’s illegal for a patient to be on a stretcher for more then 4 hours) On hour 29 she was moved to ICU. Yes ICU nurses were great. She spent 4 days in ICU , was finally able to sit in a chair for 4 hrs at a time ) and was doing better. I saw her on the 4th night in icu and she was holding oxygen at 95%. They said she was being moved to the icu step down. In middle of night she called crying in pain. I’ the nurses weren’t answering the call button. I called nurses and the nurse said I have 6 other patients. I’m like I don’t care she needs help. The nurses ignored her and the next morning ( or 5 hrs later ) her oxygen was back down to 88. The nurses noted ( I could see everything on portal) said patient to needy, uses call button too much, then calls family member , patient encourage to use call button “. ) later that morning she went into SVT”s and was moved to icu step down which is were she should have been in first place not 3 north. Step down nurses Alex was great. But, my sister who is 43yrs old has another svt episode ( very high heart rate). She was moved back to icu., intubated and had central line out in That night we were told to come see her asap. We raced down there and and dr talked to us all and said hostel is limited in what they could do but to research ECMO and a hostel that did it. He constantly said you didn’t hear it from me but maybe you could have her transferred. 4 hours later we go see her and she had no gag reflexes, or cough reflexes. She was dying. We spent 5 hours with her and left for a quick food run to a phone call that she past away. Long story short of u have covid pneumonia STSY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL! Now 3 hours after she was pronounced I can’t get into her portal. Yeah, because they think a lawsuit is coming. HELL YES ITS COMING. This hostel knew she needed ecmo from day 1 and should have said go to stony Brook but they didn’t say anything about it. If you care about your loved ones or yourself stay far away from the hospital . They killed my 43 yr old baby sister. " - Michele

Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center: "Worst hospital ever no way 45% say it’s excellent! They left my mother in urine for days on end I didn’t know as I was out of state but when she came home she had the worst bedsores I’ve ever seen ! I’m hiring an attorney and going after everyone as this a clear case of medical neglect ! I will end the Carter’s of everyone involved ! They bullied her out of the hospital and discharged her against her will ! She is t able to move it clean herself or anything and if anything happens to her there will be hell to pay!!! I’ve seen veterinarians take better care of animals then they take care of people at this hospital ! It’s a disgrace !!! " - Dan
