Long Beach Memorial Medical Center: "Took partner to ER and after initial tests we waited. The new triage area has little cubicles the size of a closet. The space is so small it’s difficult for both nursing staff, patient and another person. I don’t know what they were thinking of when they remodeled these areas but they made them worse. This whole ER needs to be enlarged. The parking is awful too. There’s no place to really drop of a patient. Build a new building and design a ramp system to take patients from the ER to the hospital. Expand parking and have ER drop off and parking with more space. It’s gotten worse since I was there in 2017 and again in 2021, 2023. When are they going to take this ER seriously? They don’t have Community Hospital anymore so now we have less choice. It’s an embarrassment for Long Beach. Build a new ER!" - Penny

Long Beach Memorial Medical Center: "I am a concerned mother who dropped off my daughter at your ER yesterday afternoon at 5pm. She was checked in after 20 mins but was told to wait in the patient’s waiting room area. Had an EKG and Lab work done at 8pm and was told again to wait in the outside waiting area for the results. It is now 1:41am when I called the ER if she is still outside and the answer was yes. My daughter was sent by her doctor to the ER to be checked cause she was having difficulty breathing, heart rate was fast was also pale and weak and is also diabetic. So how long will it take for them to tend to her as an ER patient sitting in a chair outside since 5pm yesterday without a nurse watching over and checking on her BP, heart rate and pulse, without any first aid medication, water or food? She should at least be resting, laying down in bed while waiting for her EKG and laboratory results. I did not intend to write a mean letter, just a concerned mother worrying about her daughter. Hoping that nothing serious will come out because of this situation. Thank you…" - Cynthia
