Lafayette General Medical Center: "At 3:00 am on 6/13/23 I went to the ER at Ochner Lafayette General Hospital with severe pain in the upper quadrant of my stomach under my rib cage. The pain was severe and would not stop. I went to the ER and checked in at 3:30 am. I was told to go sit in the waiting lobby and someone would call me. 4 hrs later I had not heard from anyone and my pain was getting worse. I went to the check in station and asked the lady if I could see someone about my pain. She called a very uncaring and none concerned nurse that told that there was nothing she could do after 4 hrs. Her words were "If I didn't like that I could go to another hospital". I did and got excellent care within 30 min. I am very upset and angry for the way they treated me at OLGMC emergency room. I will discourage anyone from going there." - Jimmy

Lafayette General Medical Center: "Very disappointed. I along with several other patients were placed in the waiting room and no one came to check on us. I felt bad for young lady at the desk because she was set up for failure. She could not reach anyone to assist us and could not answer any questions. I actually witnessed a young man who obviously suffered from turrets syndrome injure himself and not one medical person, not a CNA, Nurse, NP, Doctor, no one came to his aide. Security actually was called to “calm him down”. Having to witness that for over an hour made me sick to my stomach. When I asked for assistance from the young lady at the front desk I was told she couldn’t contact anyone in the back but when the door opened and a nurse came out, I would be able to speak to her. The door opened, a nurse stepped out but she didn’t acknowledge me or anyone else so I went to the back to seek assistance. I encountered a medical professional when advised me he didn’t work in that area, told me he couldn’t talk to me because they were shorthand, and there was too many people waiting to be seen so it could be hours before I or any of the patients upfront would be seen. I went to the ER because my Cardiologist nurse sent me there for some heart related issues. My pain level was close to 10, I was nauseated, and with the prospect of not being attended to I had to leave because I didn’t want to go into pain distress. I called the hospital and waited on hold for seven plus minutes before the operator answered the phone! I tried calling again tonight and no one answered the phone! This is shameful. " - Lindsey
