Jacobi Medical Center: "This is the worst Emergency Room experience I have ever experienced. Went with my adult daughter. She had problems with diabetes. We there from 3:30 on the Wednesday. It was horrible. All they did was ask the same questions by different staff members and took blood every 2 hrs. At about 4 am on Thursday the senior doctor came and see us. Based on the symptoms he suggested she did an ultrasound. He told me we would have the service done early Thursday morning. I am an older woman I sat in a chair for more that chair for 24 were still waiting. hours. At 2 pm the next The staff was very disrespectful and rude. I would not recommend this place to anyone." - Novelet

Jacobi Medical Center: "This was one of the worst hospitals in the world.they are all so unprofessional so in humane so irresponsible in leaving charts disguarded saying all is good after a surgery their staff worrying about a date instead of taking care of you I went there for two years to the uroligy dept and saw Dr segal dr brieland and finally dr chuck all three doctors hurt me my body my mind and when I would ask for pain meds they would just say are you on drugs.i began with them at 190 pounds n on Feb 5 when I said no more two years later I was 126 pounds all three doctors have up on me and passed me to the next one in my personal opinion i believe all three of these doctors should not be practicing medicine any where as of jocobi they hired them they should be held responsible for their participation don't go to this hospital for nothing severe maybe a scratch or a common cold. I went to nyu on 33 street n they have done there what Jacobi hospital could not do in 2years they did it in 3 weeks ." - Arthur

Jacobi Medical Center: "Jacobi Medical center is the absolute worst health care facility I have ever experienced. From the minute you walk into the lobby the incompetence begins. My sister had a devastating accident in which she was struck down by a MTA bus. She was transfered to Jacobi with the intent of going to the burn unit to treat her leg injuries but instead was admitted to the SICU. She was transfered in good condition, and rapidly declined. For days the staff ignored her complaints of increasing abdominal pain by telling her she had gas. It doesn't take a genius to realize that someone who was in a traumatic accident might have an undiscovered abdominal issue. Yet they ignored her pleas and did not to an endoscopy or sonogram. They did not intervene until she became critically ill. She ended up with a huge perforated stomach, half of which had to be removed. She endured a 7 hr surgery where she almost died. She is now in extremely critical condition and will be in the hospital for a very long time, with many risks of complications. Unfortunately we are now in the postion of having to keep her here as she is too ill to be moved. Please please avoid this hospital at all costs. The actions of the SICU staff were grossly negligent." - Joanne

Jacobi Medical Center: "
Attending Jacobi Medical Center's Emergency Room was the worst experience in my life. I've never seen such horrendous patient care in my entire existence and I myself am a patient care technician!! The lack of empathy towards the patients is atrocious and should be dealt with immediately.

I went in with my mother. A patient with a history of various gastro surgeries, high blood pressure, and numerous other complications. My mother was coming in with severe stomach pain, and was regurgitating every five minutes. Her blood pressure was elevated and she looked deathly pale. It had gotten to a point where she seemed to be regurgitating stomach bile!

As we arrived we were told to fill out some paperwork. We did as we were told and proceeded to sit and wait. We waited for an entire hour before I stood up to ask for a wait time. At this point everyone redirected me to a nurse. Once I was able to locate a nurse, I tried to explain the seriousness of my mother's condition. I proceeded to explain that my mother had previous surgeries and that I was afraid the symptoms were due to something due to her latest surgery. The nurse dismissed me immediately saying that I had to wait about one more hour before my mother was able to be seen. I huffed, but turned around and walk to my seat. More than two hours passed by after my encounter with the nurse, yet my mother was still yet to be called. I approached the front desk again, this time the receptionist said one more person was in front of my mother, three more were called before I stood up to complain again. I do understand that patients are called in based on the gravity of their situation but what had me upset was the fact that there were people who appeared fine yet were called in sooner. There was also a moment in which a young girl approached the front desk flirted with the receptionist and was called in within the first five minutes of being there!! I found that to be outrages really. And all of this time my mother is regurgitating bile onto napkins next to me.

All in all I would not recommend anyone to attend this ER, unless they want to die in the waiting area!!"
