: "Had a finger tip cut off in kitchen accident. Lots of bleeding. Waited 4+ hours. Bled on the chairs. They have signs that say "triage" but it was first come, first served. I'm no doctor but all others ahead in ER line seemed fine, as if they in DMV line. A guy said someone died waiting last week. The wait room was filthy - felt like third world country infrastructure. The staff seemed disinterested is the polite description. Gtown hospital has $100Ms for new buildings but cant deliver the very basics of care, as in stop the bleeding. How does this happen in Georgetown?" - Jac

Sibley Memorial Hospital: "We are from out of town. My wife fell in downtown DC and we went to an urgent care affiliated with GW hospital. After waiting two hours in the urgent care my wife saw a PA who suggested we go to an ER to get a CT Scan if her head. They recommended Siibley, indicating the wait would be less than GW hospital
After 90 minutes at the Sibley ER we finally saw the one PA on duty. The PA said my wife should get a quick CT scan to make sure there is no brain bleed. Three hours later we are still waiting for them to take her downstairs Worse part is no one stops by to give you an update. When you ask if a brain bleed is a real worry and why we are still waiting behind curtain for someone to take us down to CT, the answer is it’s up to you if you want to go home. But we recommend against it because a brain bleed can be very serious and can be dangerous
I guess if that is case they should be a bit faster in getting you in for a CT to ensure there is no dangerous brain bleed
The place is run poorly. From what I could tell one P A in the entire ER. No urgency and not much consideration for patients
Very slow moving and honestly would not recommend this place to anyone
John’s Hopkins Medicine should investigate and reconfigure the Sibley ER based on our experience. Now a total of 5 hours and still waiting…..
