Holy Cross Hospital: "Wait time as of 11/1/22 has increased to 12 hours at both Holy Cross locations. I had severe chest pain and underlying condition they ask me to wait outside because the waiting room was over capacity. Begged to be seen due to pain. Left after waiting 3 hours and still no doctor / NPR visit. Disappointed " - Bria

Holy Cross Hospital: "My story is over 10 years old, but so traumatizing that it's been hard to talk about. They nearly let me die waiting. I'd had an ivf treatment/egg retrieval (elsewhere) and hadn't felt right in the days since, but my reproductive endocrinologist office told me not to worry about the extra pain and pressure I was feeling. One night I stood up from the couch and felt a horrible bursting in my lower abdomen, I doubled over in pai and my stomach began to swell. In nearly unbearable pain, I managed to drive myself to holy cross. It was a Sunday night about 10 pm. Despite the severity of my condition, it was about 4 hours before I was trialed. I was told by one of the desk agents that it was their policy to the ALL children first. There were many kids there that seemed to have just the sniffles. In the meantime the infected fluid in my peritoneal cavity was increasing, pressing on my diaphragm so breathing was becoming more difficult. I laid down on the floor hoping it would redistribute the pressure and reduce the pressure on my lungs, and I was moaning in excruciating pain. The security officer came over and gruffly told me "Get up! Stop moaning it won't get you seen sooner! Get up or I will throw you out." I was crying and had to beg him to please help me up off the floor because of the size of my belly, full if infected fluid from the rupture of an infected peritoneal abscess, and the pain, I couldn't get up on my own. I remember the officers name (I will never forget) but won't print it here- but it was the most ironic last name in the world, like something out of a Dickens novel. It was a name that means nice and caring, which was the opposite of what this monster was. Once they took me back, about 4 hours later, the staff and pace were OK, UNTIL they decided to admit me. I languished waiting for a room with only one check on me in hours. Then the real horror began. They couldn't figure out who was in charge of my case, the nurses were bot adequately attentive, if I hadn't had friends with me there every day all day to advocate for me, I would not be alive to share this story. Holy Cross Hospital: "There are few ERs worse than Holy Cross. Arrived at HC by ambulance in SEVERE pain, 4-5 other ambulatory patients in front of me (1.5 hour wait). Then rolled to the ER waiting room and sat with no medical care whatsoever for over 4 hours. After another patient expressed her concern to one of the doctors he came asked what was wrong and never came back. It wasn’t until I decided to call my BF to pick me up (he had to wait outside because of covid) after not having being seen at all for almost 5 hours. At which point I let the nurse have it! That’s when they decided to send me back for an IV and lab work. Had I not made some noise, I would’ve been sitting there for 10 hours. Their ER is ABYSMAL. Do yourself a favor and go to GW." - Jay

Holy Cross Hospital: "Went to ER to get IV fluids. After 2 hours, got am IV. After an additional 3 hours, no doctor had seen me, and they were refusing to treat me further until a doctor saw me, which they could not give me an ETA for. I left, rather than let them starve me." - Joseph

Holy Cross Hospital: "I am a health care provided for over 50 years, and was in your ER this afternoon with a family member. Your entire staff from the receptionist to the nursing staff is downright rude and uncaring! When I asked one of the nurses sitting at the desk how much longer we have to wait, her response was ... "We are waiting to discharge the patient." The look on her face when I said ... "She has not been seen yet",left me wondering what kind of professionals you hire. Hope she checked medication before getting them to patients!!!! I have never encountered such unprofessionalism in a hospital ever!!!!!" - Ms.
