Blake Medical Center: "Do they have open beds? I sat in this hospital for 9 hours, only to end up at a regular hospital. I'd you don't have room for patients, quit letting people in and stealing time and money from the patients and the hospital. " - Kim

Blake Medical Center: "I went to an Urgent Care center on Saturday w/ a lot of bleeding in my mouth after having had dental work done on Friday. They were great but told me I needed to see an oral surgeon. They called local hospital ERs. Manatee did not have one but Blake said they did. I went there and after waiting and going in I was told they do not have one. They game me some gauze and sent me on my way. Horrible!" - LR

Blake Medical Center: "Had a loved one at Blake Hospital because of a stroke this week. Once they got to 4South for their continued care, the nightmare began. As I entered the patients room I noticed trash & patients meds on the floor! The patient was left with NO GOWN. Use your imagination for the rest. When the patient asked for a blanket, he had to wait for hours. It was the same when he needed water or pain meds!! The patient needed his CPAP machine, so it was brought (with permission by Blake Hospital) to the patient. I was assured the nurse would plug it in so he could try and sleep. THE NURSES LEFT IT IN THE BAG AND NEVER PLUGGED IT IN!! He could not brush his teeth, and we were not allowed to bring a toothbrush in for him. We couldn't bring in clean clothes. There is no personal hygiene allowed. He had puss sores on his back and a bad rash within the 3rd day. Dr. "Es_ _ _ _ za" was as arrogant as they come!! If you're a woman, stay the hell out of his way! The hospital stay was only 3 days but felt like much longer. The one positive thing is the Blake Hospital Stroke team was on the ball. After that, it was all down hill!" - Misses

Blake Medical Center: "I agree 100% with N. Rae's comment below. Blake staff has zero compassion for the elderly. I found one nurse who tried to help us get the action needed to settle our issues. Dont let anybody you know go to BlakeMedical Center if you want them to get compassionate, quality care." - JB-F

Blake Medical Center: "Re: Blake Trauma Center, Bradenton, FL
I am the daughter of a patient admitted to ICU last month. I feel it is an ethical imperative to warn others not to allow an elderly loved one to be treated in this facility. The nursing staff exhibits contempt for elderly patients. There seems to be a pervasive attitude among nursing staff--possibly physicians as well-- that if someone is, like my parent, in his/her ninth decade of life, there is no need to hustle, no need to go the extra mile. Death is, after all, coming soon anyhow.... Why waste precious resources catering to ill and infirm people? In fact, hasten their deaths and it will be better for everyone, right? It doesn't hurt that Blake has crafted an unholy alliance with a for-profit short-term hospice corporation, the very compassionate Tidewell, Inc. Have an elderly patient? Get that person to the brink, transfer to the illustrious Tidewell, and avert a dreaded "death" statistic on the hospital record. If you evaluate the supposed death count at Blake with appropriate scrutiny, you will see that their many transfers of patients to a hospice allow them to claim glorious, undeserved quality care, a low death count. Quit insidious and clever. An evil, horrible, disgusting institution is Blake. Just stay away. Put the monsters out of business."
