Galesburg Cottage Hospital: "I just submitted a comment and did not include that I was talking about my mom's experience at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, IL. Her hip surgery was in May, 2014." - etta

Galesburg Cottage Hospital: "While waiting in pre-op for 82-year-old Mom's hip surgery, a team of nurses and an anesthesia tech came in & started talking to us about her procedure to be done by Dr. Chima, who was not her surgeon byt the internist who cleared her medically for the hip surgery. The team asked a few questions, & I got the idea they wanted to do a bronchoscopy. I asked Mom if Dr. Chima talked to her about lung problems or a bronchoscopy, and she didn't know. This went on for several minutes while they got her ready. I finally said this doesn't seem right at all, & asked Mom again. THEN the nurse checked Mom's ID bracelet & asked what she was there for. Faced with their obvious failure to properly ID a patient, the nurse apologized & they all left very quickly. It turned out they asked at the nurse's station which room their patient was in, & they were told the wrong room. Thank goodness I went into pre-op with her, or they would have done the wrong procedure on the wrong patient!" - etta
