Freeman Health System - Freeman West: "It's a good hospital, I had 3 doctors in my room at 1 time... I was just in pain from a kidney stone... They said just slow down and relax, we got to get the blood work and CT scan back before we can do anything... ???? Doctor said you have not been here 2 hours, just one, so relax... ????... I had 3 doctors all at the same time... Not bad at all... They really wanted to give me some pain med.. Normally I would have taken it, but I wanted to monitor this blasted kidney stone... Amazing when I went home and drank 32 ounces of water the pain stoped... Go figure, the stone was in the tube from the kidney to the bladder... Maybe it dropped into the bladder.. will see urologist on Monday, I mean make the appointment... What a day... So GOOD JOB to Freeman Hospital.. They were there for me.. I was stressed, and they were there... 5 stars out of 5... " - Gregory

Freeman Health System - Freeman West: "I was actually afraid. The main doctor was rude to me, I said why are you angry? He said we will get to you when we can. See I was thinking checking out from ER. Extream pain from kidney stone. I never waited that long before to get a CT scan at a hospital. Just because it's a weekend you don't close down your total staff for convenience. I asked if I have a stone, will you call a Urologist? They said no. That bothers me, I'm the patient, I'm in pain, I HAVE the money. They treated me as if I had no value. I got nauseous in the ER room from the stress they caused. A Cold Room because to stop infections, I understand... The foam mattress, how it sunk in at my butt where my legs and back were higher, very uncomfortable... I'm scared to go back. They were nice and asked if I wanted pain killers, I did not want them. They tried to do a good job so I'm not downing them. They said the mattress was like that, and only 4 Inches thick, Incase they need to do CPR... All of the other hospitals in Nevada, Utah, have your own room, a bathroom, and not a curtain separator... But everything is more expensive out west... My Federal Insurance paid them just as much, or more, than the hospitals in Nevada and Utah... I don't get it.. All hospitals are a private company...
I am not giving this hospital a bad report. Maybe it's because no hospital I've ever been in before was over 10 years old... This is old school, and true I'm not a nice guy when I'm in extream pain, I want results right now, I got the money, call in the urologist.. They gave me a referral...
If you don't know what the pain from a kidney stone is, than you got a future coming, in the future. "

Freeman Health System - Freeman West: "Worst hospital ever. Took my wife in for possible heart attack. There were almost no people in the waiting room and it still took 2 hours to be taken back. Then after doing all their tests they the decided she needed to be admitted but had to wait another 5 hours and am still waiting. It should not take that long EVER. Additionally the waiting room was filthy. My wife could not walk so they tried to place her near an end table that had used blood pressure cuffs on it and a bunch of used tissues laying on it. The ER room that we were taken to was dirty and had trash on the floor. Furthermore there is a mask requirement but they are not enforcing it. Numerous people were not wearing a mask and one nurse was wearing her mask below her nose. " - Mark

Freeman Health System - Freeman West: "Freeman Urgent Care sent me to the ER to diagnose heart attack OR blood clot in my lung. Upon arrival, the only check in window has a speaker 3 foot off the ground so you have to bend over or sit in the same UNSANITIZED chair that everyone else has used. I told the girl that I was referred by their urgent care because I couldn't breathe. She sent me to the waiting area. Forty-five minutes later they came to get me for triage evaluation and realized why I was there, told Clueless that any chest pain or breathing issues need to be seen immediately (who doesn't know that?) Hooked up my EKG wrong. 2nd nurse fixed it. Waited another hour and a half for them to draw blood. Three hours later, still sitting in the waiting room with no additional contact, treatment or vitals check we just left. NEVER AGAIN!!!" - Rose

Freeman Health System - Freeman West: " I am immunocompromised & was attacked several years by a dog. My leg was mailed. I sat 16 hours waiting to be seen. We begged for someone to at least rinse it off. Nope . I was put in an overflow room & slept overnight in an ER bed. A few weeks later I spiked a fever. They did an ultrasound & was told that if the doctor said there was no infection , get a second opinion. The infection was to the bone. They were told when we got there that I was a heart transplant patient. I had to be life flighted to KC. They almost had to amputate my leg. The wait time is ridiculous, but we are stuck with them, due to insurance." - Robin

Freeman Health System - Freeman West: "The staff outside the Emergency/ Trauma area are literally the worst I’ve ever encountered. The first thing they do is threaten you that only 1 person can sit with you in waiting area. Then Barney Fife comes and threatens the whole area of people about 1 visitor and masks. Meanwhile there are 10 total people spread out 30 yards apart and the COVID risk is minimal. The wait time has nothing to do with your medical condition. My mom was finally diagnosed with spinal and bone cancer that visit but we waited 8 hours just to be called back for evaluation. 2 days later my dad was in and out of consciousness with loss of blood pressure from an artificial heart valve but that wait is 9 hours we learned. My mom with cancer was forced to wait outside while I attended to my dad's issues during the wait. No doubt people expire while waiting to be seen in the ER. It’s a disgrace to the medical community as a whole that we have such heartless people keeping us away from necessary medical assistance. No matter the cost, if you have a real emergency I would avoid Freeman Joplin’s ER. " - Brian

Freeman Health System - Freeman West: "Covid. Came in because of worsening symptoms. Been in covid room for 8 hours. Cold, no place to lie down. They told me it would be a long wait but I thought 3 or 4 hrs- not 8. Lying on the floor doesn't cut it." - Bonnie

Freeman Health System - Freeman West: "Moved to Joplin Missouri location back in July, 2014. I am originally from Just outside of the big city of Chicago, IL. I am in my 60's and have had back and keg problems for many years. I've been to Freeman West Hospital Joplin location's Emergency room about 4 times over the past 2 years. The first time was September 9, 2014. I had fallen at home and hurt my right side. They took X-rays of the left side only and sent me home saying I was just bruised! I found out from my doctor in Joplin that my right side had some cracked ribs! What a quack that X-Ray technician was who did not know her left from her right. Later that same week, I went back to Freeman West Emergency room with more pain Sept. 11, 2014 and they made me wait over 3 hours. I was in agonizing pain. This was too long to wait in their Triage and I almost passed out. I found out after some more X-rays that I also had a kidney stone which was probably the why I had a hard time to stand and fell on Septenber 9, 2014. I feel that Freeman West Hospital Energency Triage unit is not capable of providing a proper diagnose of what the problems are and are very understaffed. Waiting 3 or more hours each time is incomprehensible and unnecessary for anyone (young or old)! People deserve better quality care! There urgent care clinics (which don't have access to all equipment) is better. In May 2015 I fell again and hit my head into a glass door and my head was bleeding with pieces of glass. This time I calmed an ambulance and got better treatment from Freeman West (maybe because an ambulance witness is what a person needs to get Freeman's emergency staff to get off their butts and do some work and move faster! My problems with falling is because of lumbar stenosis! I had surgery done at Freeman West on January 29,2016 and was having done muscle and nerve spasms in my legs from the Lumbar Fusion. I went back to their emergency room again and it was 2:00 am in the morning. I was the 3rd person sitting and waiting 3.25 hours before anyone would see me! They could not provide me with anymore confirt from the muscle nerve pain and sent me home with drugs that made me worse! I think that Freeman West, Joplin, MO needs to re-examine how they take care of emergencies and how they give out drugs. When I was in the hospital from July 19, 2016 through July 25, 2016 I was in a lot of pain from the surgery and I was suppose to get sone therapy to get up on my feet. The pain and the drugs were so intense and kept be from getting up out of bed. I think that Freeman West is pouring understaffed and just prefers to get away with being a "Legal Drug Pusher" instead of helping patients with pain management! I was given Valium , two different muscle relaxants and 2 different doses of Oxicondon as well as a couple more dangerous drugs that did nothing but interact and cause more problems. Freeman West needs to clean up their act and get better emergency staff as well as nurses. I love my doctors here in Joplin. The doctors are great. It!s a shame that the hospital staff lacks the proper guideness or is lazy or not educated enough to do the right thing for people who pay and gave good insurance! " - Marilyn
