Erie County Medical Center: "Long story short- as if that’s even a possibility.
Severed artery in finger at 1:30. Went to an ER clinic and was told this is a potentially life threatening situation. (I have never seen blood like this before. Soaking paper towels. Dripping paper towels)
Knowing that a trip to ECMC was a trip into the twilight zone- I headed out with my very injured and patient coworker.
Our arrival was greeted by the usual mix of characters. After checking in we were called into the back - thinking - wow this is actually not going to be a trip into the twilight zone. Wrong!
2.5 hours later- my coworker starts telling me he is in more pain than before (level 10). I got up and went to the desk. The one associate was busy so I waiting infront of the one who seemed “not busy”.
Here is what he was busy doing- watching live streams on his phone. When the desk phone rang he looked up and offered to “help me”. I explained to him the situation and his response was “I will make a note of it.” Did not offer my friend even the slightest of attention- nothing - zero. “He will make a note of it.”
I know these are hard working people and I know things are tough everywhere, but really. You can’t pull yourself away from you cell phone videos enough when sitting at the desk in an ER room- loaded with all kinds of everything. You give your fellow coworkers a bad name and are an embarrassment to those who take their jobs seriously and are mature enough to stay off their phones. "

Erie County Medical Center: "Terrible experience with this hospital. I had a major surgery and waited hours before I was able to be medicated. They would tell me you can't have this at home....no but I am not at home.. Hopefully my pain will be managed better at home. Don't treat patients like they are useless. I'm a RN and would never treat my patients they way I was treated!! " - Susan
