Emory Johns Creek Hospital Stories

Emory Johns Creek Hospital: "I took my daughter to the Emory Johns Creek Hospital ER because she had lost consciousness a few times that day. At registration, they said nothing about the fact that they do not handle pediatrics. That part came after we had registered and waited 3 more hours, then they told us to go to a pediatric hospital.

If they had informed me at the registration desk that they do not do pediatrics, we could have gotten a 4-hour head-start on the inpatient workup she appropriately received at a better hospital. Believe it or not, we STILL got a bill for $950 despite having insurance!!!

Called to dispute, waited on the line for over an hour several times, and they refused to negotiate below $650. They also said that if they hadn't run my insurance, I would have been billed the self-pay rate at 35% discount, or $618. So here I have a case to actually SUE THEM FOR MALPRACTICE for delaying care, and not only will they not take an extremely generous settlement offer, they are PENALIZING ME for having insurance? What?!?

They caused an inappropriate delay in treatment and still demand that I pay more money out of pocket because I have insurance than I would have if I'd never given them my insurance card at all.

Emory now has another malpractice suit on their hands, this is not just a billing dispute anymore. Avoid any place with the EMORY name like the plague! You've been warned."
