    Cookeville Regional Medical Center Stories

Cookeville Regional Medical Center: "I am witnessing something which I don't quite understand how it could happen in our region and especially in our county. Kidney Stones are extremely painful and should not be taken likely. I am cursed with them. I am fortunate to have a high tolerance to pain and can tough out a lot of injuries and pain that other people can't. After a four-month battle with a kidney stone, it got the best of me about 9 pm last night and Dink drove me to the Cookeville Regional Emergency Room. Seven hours later, I still had not seen a doctor and gotten any relief. The tragedy of this is not my case but the cases I witnessed during my seven hours there.
    (1) a young man about eight years old with a bacterial infection in his digestive tract who had been there about six hours waiting on help. (2) a gentleman in his 40's who had just had a heart attack and was having problems and had been waiting for three hours. (3) a young man in his 20's whose left foot and leg were swollen twice their size from what appeared to be an infection who had been there for Seven hours and finally left without care. (4) An elderly gentleman in a wheelchair who waited five hours and finally left. When my pain caused me to start throwing up, I called my Urologist and got his answering service who advised me to go to the ER. Really?
After seven hours of pain, we came home to try to find some pain pills left over from a toothache and they didn't touch the pain.
I have always bragged on Cookeville Regional's service but there is definitely something wrong and it needs addressing.
    "
