Brandon Regional Hospital Stories

Brandon Regional Hospital: "I will NEVER step foot inside of Brandon Regional or any other HCA Hosptial again. First, the Chief of Medicine in the ER comes to my room and asks me all the routine questions, and introduces the student Dr who will be working with me. He seems arrogant, but what COM isn't? He rambles on about what he assumes my problem is and tells me they will give me "ABC" medication for my pain, and it's already been ordered. I've been to this Hosptial several times before, my allergies are noted. I am HIGHLY allergic to "ABC" medication, and had the CHIEF OF MEDICINE actually looked at my chart he'd have known that and never ordered the medication before even meeting me. Haphazardly the nurse walks in with ABC medication ready to plunge it into my IV when he tells them "Oh wait, she's allergic to that, I'll order something else ". He then proceeds to tell me that my allergy is "weird" and that it's odd that I'm allergic to "ABC" medication, and not "DEF". Well, DOCTOR, the names aren't even remotely similar nor is the chemical composition. Every female in my family happens to be allergic to it as well. Take it up with genetics if you think it's really an issue. Additionally, how is any of that pertinent to my situation? I was subsequently admitted because I needed an imaging study, but that didn't make sense to me. People get imagining done in the ER everyday and are never admitted. I had to wait 4 HOURS in the ER while my nurse ADAMANTLY ignored my call light. Now, I know some might be thinking "This is probably coming from one of 'those' patients..." And I'm here to tell you I'm not one of those patients. I rarely make a peep and only call for the nurse when it's absolutely necessary, but I'm beyond mad when I can see nurses and Drs hanging out in the nurses station shooting the breeze, but have the nerve to tell patients "we're busy". Lies. BR has over 60 beds in the ER and only 17 were being occupied at the time. There was plenty of staff for that amount of patients. I also waited over 2 hours to go to imagining after completion of my questionaire, only to find out I had to wait because the imaging tech decided to leave instead of completing my test because "someone else was on the way". Someone who lived an hour away and that tech I initially saw has 2 hours left for her shit and blatantly NEGLECTED to do her job. Once I get done with imagining and go upstairs to my room, I notice a "housekeeping" card on the side table that notes "This room was cleaned at 4:30pm" I CAME AFTER 4:30 PM THAT DAY AND I STILL HAD TO WAIT 6 HOURS TO GO UPSTAIRS AFTER MY ADMISSION. ALL DUE TO PURE NEGLIGENCE AND LAZINESS. I won't even get into the nonstop rigamarole of trying to find the Drs who were supposed to see me that never showed until I demanded to see them. I was also on a floor with 6 patients on it, all awaiting surgery, and I was not. I have no idea why I was put there. It wasn't the only floor open. Also, it tooke over 12 hours to get the results for my imagining study, and when I asked why that was, because bit doesn't take that long in the ER and for 2+ hours there was NO ONE being sent to imagining due to the tech deciding she wanted to leave early. So what's the hold up? I get told "I don't know, someone else reads the imaging studies..." What kind of answer is that? Brandon Regional is NOT like the other trauma centers in the area, they do not have as much nonsense as any other Hospitials in the area do, and if the nurse there think they have it tough, try visiting TGH and see what you think. Brandon Regional is a fun house compared to other facilities in the area. HCA is an AWFUL company, and upon realizing Brandon Regional was managed and owned by HCA, it all made sense. A crooked company makes for a crooked Hosptial. You are a number and a PAYCHECK to them, not a person in need. STAY FAR FAR AWAY IF YOU NEED ACUTE RELIABLE CARE! " - A
