Baltimore Washington Medical Center: "I was seen for a horrible kidney infection and a Uti. When arriving I was barely able to walk crying and trying not to scream from the pain after being triaged, they got me behind screening in a recliner where I then waited back there no pain meds or anything for two hours, I finally get a CT scan and find that I have a massive infection. I was advised of the infection not advised on what it was but that it was there. I never saw my nurse till the last two hours I was there and was never given a real room. with a heart rate of over 140, vomiting, screaming and shaking in pain. mind you they knew what infection i had after the first 30 minutes i had been there because i gave them urine and my labs came back fast i have my chart. then after two hours almost 3 i was advised i had an infection that i nurse should be around soon to evaluate and medicate and that the pain should dissipate shortly after the antibiotics yet made me wait in agenizing pain for hours then i was never actaully evaluated i told them i hadnt used the bathroom going on a week after eating a box of exlax choclates thinking all these issues were from gi related issues no xrays done to ensure no blockage told i have kidney stones but they werent a concern then i was given pain meds antibiotics and nauseas meds. after 30 minutes i finally was ready to eat after 2 days i had half a turkey sandich and that made them determine i just must be fine sned a doctor 15 before im discharges the only time i ever saw him he talked to be for 5 minutes if that and left. after my visit i checked my after visit summary and they lied in my chart my stomach in the chart was described as soft it was not i was bloated and it was hard nobody ever examined my abdomen or any part of my body for that matter not even 30 after arriving home i was in horrible pain again this was 12/31/2023 came back 4 days later bc primary sent me after still not being able to eat or have a bowel movement they had me sit in the lobby for 5 hour no x-rays no imaging nothing. finally i go to the nurse at registration and i ask for the iv to be removed id rather suffer in pain at home so instead of taking it out she pulls me to the back makes me wait 30 more minutes then finally a doctor is in triage and is seeing me (they only did that so I had to sigh ada if i hadn't seen the doctor that form never would have needed to be sighed) then he advises me hed like to push fluids and do an Xray but it wouldn't be done for at least another 90 minutes I told him no way I was staying in that lobby for another 2 hours for an Xray and fluids now 1/14/2024 and my pains have returned and I believe my kidneys stones are worse and my infection is worse I took all the antibiotics given all meds and still no resolution. I understand hospitals are busy I work at one but to do that to someone who's kidneys were on the verge of shutting down 4 days before and never even got a room it's just not okay so now I have two separate 150 co pays for the er and will have another today when I go to a different hospital to be seen oh and the best part after making me sigh the ada forms they then SENT ME THE BILL BEFORE EVEN SUBMITTING IT TO MY INSUANCE the day I received the bill I called my insurance and was told they only billed them 2 hours before my call so not only did they put me threw the ringer they tried to double bill then also lied and said my insurance said they could authenticate me but my insurance said they never said that once and had only just revived the bill " - anonymous

Baltimore Washington Medical Center: "I brought my friend here at 11:30 am. Finally got an ER room at 6:10 pm. It’s now 8:15 pm. 9 hours - no food, no fluids, no doctor. She has a fever of 102, low oxygen and a cough. She just wants to feel better and no one seems to be helping. " - Kathy

Baltimore Washington Medical Center: "Brought my mother to ER on 7/14. Waited 10 hours with no treatment to move back to one of the Rooms in Pod 1. Further evaluation and treatment lasted nearly five hours. Brought her to the ER department again on 7/24 at 5 am. Was back in a Pod by 0630 (same symptoms as 7/14 only 10 days further on). Was told by 0730 she would be admitted. Unfortunately now, at 0245 the next day, we are still waiting for a bed on a ward. She’s been “pre assi]gned” to a ward since 1700; however, was never assigned a bed on said ward.. it is frustrating. I cannot say where the roadblock lies. Staff has been friendly and trying to provide what information they can as they can and answer any/all questions. This hospital does not have sufficient staff or facilities (apparently) to handle the volume of patients it receives effectively." - Cheri

Baltimore Washington Medical Center: "called 911 on saturday night around 830pm, they took my wife over to BWMC for risk of heart attack, once that was ruled out they thought it was gallbladder but left her in ER for 12 hours and didn't check on her at all....Sunday at 11:15am still no word on a diagnosis. Worst ER visit ever." - Lisa

Baltimore Washington Medical Center: "My husband was in the emergency room 2 different times recently for bladder/kidney issues. From the time we entered the doors we waited 10 hours the first time and 9 hours the second time before he went back in a treatment room. One of those times he was continually vomiting, they gave him a bag and finally about 4 hours later they gave him a shot to stop the vomiting. Once in treatment the doctors and nurses did a great job. But if he needs to go to the hospital again, we will not go to BWMC!" - Barbara

Baltimore Washington Medical Center: "This hospital has the worst food that food shouldn’t be fed to animals or humans I lost 30lbs. The Dr I had handling my car her last name was Allen shouldn’t be so fast to call patients with chronic pain due to a broken ankle a junky but gave me medicine that cause me to twitch other than that excellent nurses and techs" - Vanessa
