Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Stories

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center: "My son was taken by ambulance to the ER on 10/25/2022. They dropped him off & he was made to wait in a chair in the waiting room (he was in critical condition). He could not sit in the chair as he felt he would fall, so he slid to the floor! An ER nurse yelled at him saying he was not allowed to lay on the floor and proceeded to hurl him up from behind in a lock, jerking him into the air!! It hurt him as he has a port for his chemo, a fresh and very large abdominal incision from breast bone to naval & across to side from a liver resection (cancer). The ER doctor saw this and said loudly “ Hey, he’s a cancer patient!”. The nurse yelled back “Yeah, I know!”. He then slammed my son down onto a bed. He laid there, freezing & unattended, till his wife arrived! My son was finally admitted for emergency surgery, and then stayed in the ICU & was placed on life support in an induced coma! He was lucky, and pulled through, but still gets emotional at the way he was treated in the ER! We filed a complaint with the patient advocate, but fear nothing will come of it! I may need to file a complaint with the State Board of Nursing or hire an attorney for abusive treatment! My son may look like a drug addict because he is so sick, but all patients should be treated with respect & dignity!!!!!" - Carol

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center: "This is probably the last time I bring my son to your lab not only did 3 out 7 people not have correct lab paperwork filled out correctly and their time being wasted getting up and coming to the lab to be told that.My complaint besides wrong lab paperwork not completed is a blood technician who is rude she is a Hispanic woman who seems to be bias about race for some reason. My son and myself are mixed for some reason she calls out his name and I corrected her 4 or 5 times on more than one visit but she still being disrespectful wants to pronounce it from Xavier which is with an X to Javier which is Spanish with an H.I tell her politely and she calls out the version she wants. If this woman who doesn't realize we are white, native, black and Spaniard has issues understanding English or just plain racist should not work there.Trying to turn my son's name into her own name is rude especially when everyone is hearing me correct her over and over and she ignores me.How many other people is she belittling?." - Mayra

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center: "It was the most horrible experience I went into the ER a little bit before 11 a.m. and for simple blood draw that took three to four hours before they even called me in the back and then the nurse back their sat there and talked with the other nurse for at least an hour before they even came over to talk or to recognize me to put me in the chair to draw my blood and then they sat there and talked for another 20 or 30 minutes before we actually drew the blood and they talked about nothing they were just chit-chatting which is not acceptable or appropriate to me and they were ignoring the patients then it took another four hours before that result was red and then another two hours after that before I saw a doctor regarding that result the whole time in that ER I was ignored the staff treated me rudely except for two of the doctors then I was transferred to the trauma side which was a little bit better but I saw four five different doctors and the nurse kept running in and out he asked me questions about my medical history but then didn't even really listen then walked out when I was right in the middle of it because somebody else called him which I thought was very inappropriate then these doctors kept coming in and asking me the same questions and telling me the thing same thing over and over like I was stupid and didn't understand when I told them already that I had a history of anemia and had been had been seen for it before and not exact hospital by their hep C doctor so no one was really paying attention or listening to what I saying and they acted like they didn't care I also got my own medication with me and I was told that I wasn't allowed to take it by the nurse which was not true cuz right before I left at the end of the night at 3:30 a.m. in the morning after being there all day and night for simple blood transfusion and blood draw the doctor said oh yeah you could have taken it so the nurse never even ask the doctor who just gave me wrong information based on what he thought instead of asking the doctor himself so I ended up spending about 14 and 1/2 hours in the emergency room all together I didn't get any sleep or rest the whole time because staff is constantly talking to each other gossiping and talking about their social life and pretty much ignoring the patients it was the worst experience I've ever had in an emergency room I would not recommend it" - Jackie
