Alton Memorial Hospital: "6/20/22 8:30am
Went to AMH the nurse that checks you in was rude acted like she wasn't even listening to what I said as far as what was going on with me or why I was even there. They stick me in this little room that was probably a closet at one time. Then the Dr comes in doesn't even make eye contact and is in a big hurry. This is the worst experience I have ever had!"

Alton Memorial Hospital: "Went to AMH ER on 5/31/2022 around 9:30pm for abdominal pain. Experience was likely the worst I’ve ever experienced in healthcare. NO ONE the entire time I was there introduced themselves. Badges were often flipped so the name was not visible. Nurse attempted an IV, stuck, flushed and it blew but still attempted to draw labs after flushing and never removing the tourniquet. Another attempt was no better.Labs and CT were done. My port was accessed. No test results had been explained, a physical exam was never performed. The nurse comes into the room with IV antibiotics and begins hanging them. Only after I inquire what are you treating does she reply, I haven’t had time to look at test results. She then reviews tests and advises what she suspects is being treated. Doctor who still has not introduced herself, performed an exam or asked anything more than “what brings you in?” Pops her head in the door and says, “you have xxx, do you know what that is?” (I’m a nurse as well, so yes, I know what that is. She states, “you will get antibiotics then your discharge paperwork will be ready.” She turns to leave takes a couple steps, pops her head back in the door and asks if I have any questions.

The stretcher only had a folded sheet to cover the mattress. There was nothing to cover with and no pillow. The room was horribly hot and every staff member that entered commented about the temperature yet we were told our door could not be cracked “because of privacy.” Mind you every other patient room door was open. Privacy also was not a concern because by the time I was taken back to an ER room I already knew why every patient waiting to be seen was there.

Not one single staff member washed their hands, but if you don’t perform an exam or touch the patient why bother (we were always taught to wash upon entering and exiting the room whether contact was made or not.)

Healthcare has forever changed but this hospital is a FAR cry from meeting ANY expectation. "

Alton Memorial Hospital: "What an infuriating experience! It's one thing to have to wait in your car for 3 hours til your loved one gets a room in the ER but the parking lot is atrocious. I was sitting in car eating and a lady knocks on my window, already mad at being bothered I Crack the window and she wants a ride!? Seriously I'm not here on a picnic I have a loved one in there I'm waiting to see!! My daughter comes out to the car and I see the same girl approaching her, I jump out of the car and tell her to leave my child alone and don't come back. For the love of God get some damn security out here if your going to make people wait outside!!" - Cherie
