Alta Vista Regional Hospital Stories

Alta Vista Regional Hospital: "Patient Rights indicates:”Care of services based on age”. This facility IS VERY AGEISM in ER! My mother has been discharged too early. Once they were going to discharge her, and Mom said, “I just don’t feel good at all. They did a chest x-ray and she had pneumonia. Another time she was discharged with no known cause of abdominal pain, and questioned why not an abdominal x-ray. A family member took her to another facility, and she had gall stones. A Clayton, NM physician told my brother and sister to take her to Amarillo,TX where they removed gall stones. Thus Alta Vista had neglected her and she suffered unnecessarily! She has been called “a frequent flyer” by radiology. Last time an ER nurse commented that Mom was “here again;besides she has dementia”. “Be free from neglect”. “Environment that preserves dignity and contributes to a positive self image”. I cannot believe how my mother has been treated! Mom knows she’s NOT WELCOME, and she has been treated in an UNDIGNIFIED MANNER!! Doctors are negligent and nursing belittles her. " - Eleanor
