Abington Memorial Hospital Stories

Abington Memorial Hospital: "This hospital is garbage unfortunately. Brought my daughter in with an abscess throat infection, spitting up blood, shivering with fever, can’t swallow her spit, and here we continue to sit three hours later. The hospital staff have an uncaring attitude. It’s sad how bad this hospital has failed since it was taken over." - Ben

Abington Memorial Hospital: "I have arrived at Abington hospital at 7:25 and it’s 4:42 and I am still waiting to be seen by a doctor
It’s unhumain to see so many people suffering with such a long wait
Also the risks of being exposed to so many different virus during the long waits.

Abington Memorial Hospital: "Nurse for my mom in the emergency hasn't found a way for me to get a phone call about mon for over 3 hours. She was brought there from a rehab facility, so I don't actually know where she is - still at the ER or back at the facility, do I? I don't trust that the roads are safe after the snow today so I didn't ride over there. Every other time I tried to get info about a family member in an ER, I was updated within a reasonable time by phone. Was told there is no phone in mom's room. I'm wondering if she's in a hallway due to lack of rooms. I was just reading the bad reviews for this ER. Out of all the bad reviews, the longest wait time was 14 hours. Sounds like something that would occur in Pakistan. America the Wonderful! - NOT" - Sherry

Abington Memorial Hospital: "Abington has been the place of all my admissions from age 3 until recently. The hospital is definitely not what it used to be, sadly. Growth seems more important to them than caring for the patient. I am horrified that they allowed Jefferson to take over, making it horribly confusing to identify just who is caring for you and their level of education - resident, fellow, staff? Worst of all was my last admission when a Drexel resident lied and told me she was a staff physician, and I also had the hospitalist from hell. The nurses were wonderful, which helped a little. The room was in the old Highland building (now called Berger for some unexplained reason) and it was a little dark but I had it to myself which was nice. I also have only experienced one horrible nurse and I reported her to the nursing director. Aside from these incidents, my care has been good but instead of gobbling up another block of real estate, I wish the hospital had spent the money on refurbishing the older inpatient rooms. For my knee replacement, I was in the new Ortho wing and it was beautiful and sparkling clean. However, since then I have been a patient at Doylestown twice and it wins hands down over the Abington of today, in cleanliness and caring. Sadly, Abington is not what it used to be before all the expansion and some of the hospitalists are downright awful. " - Nancy
