ER Wait Times in New Castle County Hospitals
Average wait times at hospital in New Castle County show the time patients can expect to spend. Actual wait times will depend on many factors, such as severity of the injury, time of day, and staffing. : "UPDATE: I was finally able to call the ER from the ER waiting room because a charge nurse wouldn't or couldn't come out to the waiting room after I was told she would be out in 5 min. Never happened. So I called, spoke to charge nurse who tells me there is one perolson in front of my step-dad and this was at 8pm. Needless to say, the finally called him to the backbat 9:15pm. From 2:30pm to 9:15pm and he's just getting to the back which means, he won't be getting discharged any time soon.
Like the hotels have no vacancy, this hospital too should advertise. And come up with a plan or procedure that if the waiting is more than 3 or 4hrs, then should reroute people to other hospitals and get the EMTs and Paramedica onboard to do the same. " - Tisha

: "Bayhealth-Kent ER, IS THE WORST!! ADMINISTRATION REALLY NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED, POSITIONS RECLASSIFIED AND EVERYTHING ELSE! My 94 y/o step-dad was brought into thw ER by EMS for a serious fall, confusion and dis-oriented. He layed on a stretcher in the hallway the EMS doors for over 6 hours. It was cold on him, they never offered ANYTHING!!! NO blanket, no tissues, nothing. I asked for those things. Then a DTCC student came to get urine while he is in the hallway. I dared her to even try it because by the time I got done suing the hell out of them, I'd be owning the damn place. I explained to her that it is a privacy and dignity issue. He complained of being hungry even after his vitals, X-rays and bloodwork was completed. When asked about an EKG- the night shift refused saying they only do EKGs if the patient is being admitted!! So I'm like who makes that call? Long story short, the day shift crew came on (not to mention that he got admitted), and said they would like to do an EKG because they think it is something more going on. Sure enough, they saw he had a Pseudo Tumor.
Now we are here again today and have been waiting 3 hrs. They are doing vitals in the waiting room of the ER entrance and I'm just waiting for a Hipaa violation to happen!
If your hospital is full, try to redirect people and notify EMS to reroute if needed.
I'm over this place!" - TishaWoodard

Christiana Care Health Services.: "These stats can not be correct. I gaurentee Christiana Care is fudging their numbers by doing the "assessment" upon arrival, than sending you back to the waiting room for hours. I was sent to the ER by mt primary care physician because she was certain I was having appendicitis. I artived atvthe ER at noon...had my assesment within minutes..
sat in the waiting for for 7 HOURS!...went back for treatment and still didnt get diagnosed with appendicitis until 11pm. That is 11 hours total in the ER. Than I laid in a cot in the hallway until 6am. This is not a review of the staff at all. Everyone I came in contact with was clearly working their asses off, but they stayed kind, caring and patient. This includes Dr.s, Nurses, xray, tansport, maintenance....). The problem lies in the management and administration. There just simply weren't enough people staffed. Christiana Care has created a monoploy in Delaware and have lead us to a health care crisis while the executives line their pockets. For the record, I have very good insurance and am not an opiod user. I cannot imagine how bad it would have been otherwise." - manda
