ER Wait Times in Clark County Hospitals

Average wait times at hospital in Clark County show the time patients can expect to spend. Actual wait times will depend on many factors, such as severity of the injury, time of day, and staffing. Patients are quickly evaluated as part of a triage process, so the most severe cases can be treated first. Depending on the hospital, this initial wait can run from a few minutes to over an hour. The times below also include wait times for initial treatment, since there can be many delays after the triage process. Choose an ER with a shorter wait time to get seen more quickly.

These are the average time from entering the ER to being admitted to the hospital by a doctor. In a busy ER, patients will be seen by a triage nurse first. Then the wait time will vary by severity, and how busy the ER is at the time of day. Patients with less serious problems could have substantially longer waits.

There is a 203 minute wait difference between the fastest ER in Clark and the slowest.

: "Went to Bayfront St. Petersburg emergency room based on instructions from my doctor .
Arrived there at 4:30 pm.
At 9:00 pm still had not been seen (4 1/2 hours!!) AND there were only 3-4 people in the waiting room the whole time.
Finally after asking several times the status of when I would be seen and being told they had no idea, I left.
Very very upset. And this was an emergency room!
Will never NEVER go back there again.
Strongly recommend to go anywhere else but do NOT go to Bayfront St. Petersburg emergency room!!!!!!!!!

: "I've been to the ER more times than I can count, and I have never EVER waited that long. IDK where these stats come from, but I'm in the back within 10 minutes max every single time" - Brian

: "Every time I've been to Upper Chesapeake I've spent atleast 6 hours in the waiting room before being brought back. Another 2 hours to be seen by a doctor. That's why now I take the extra 30 minute drive and go to Harford Memorial where I'm seen within the hour. Upper Chesapeake needs to do better. " - Jessica

To whom it may concern,

I went into the ER On November 4,2020. The huge waiting area had 10 people in the small area by the brick wall, to contain people, who were not 6 feet apart. And 2 people in the larger area. My thoughts are why are they not give people the choice to sit in their car and take their phone number or get those little light buzzers at restaurants. If your "trying to stop the spread" needless to say I left. I probably only have bronchitis but my Dr.'s office sent me to the ER.
PLEASE consider changing this. Let's do better.

Sincerely,

Stella Iams.

Trying to do my part. "

: "A week ago a friend went to Trinity Sherman campus ER. He was there for 6 hours.

Last night my daughter had to go to the emergency room, same campus on Sherman. She got there at 5 pm. She never even got put in a room until after 9 pm. She finally left the hospital at 11:30 p.m. She said there was loud laughter and singing going on in the back and when anyone would go up to ask why there was such a delay they were treated rudely. This is unacceptable and horrible. She said people were talking and said they had been there since 3 pm and as of 7 pm hadn't been seen. This is only option in Muskegon now for an emergency room Sad."

: "Checked into the emergency room at Ascension St. Vincent’s On South Emerson Avenue, Indianapolis @10:10 triage nurse came out and took me back. Told me have a seat and explained I pulled something. In my side muscle or rib, she said “you were sitting in the waiting room”, actually no I wasn’t my granddaughter was sitting. If I could sit or lay down I wouldn’t even wasted my time coming here. She was so rude, said there was 9 patients ahead of me and they would get to me sometime later tonight. I would t recommend this hospital for nothing. She stated she only had the covid room and I’m not putting you in there, that’s good because I’m not going in there. I realize all these doctors and nurses are stressed out but do t take it out on me, I did t cause you to work all these hours because of covid. Have some compassion for those in pain. " - D

: "I have been here since 2 am in the ER waiting room with a family member. No one has even came to check on him. They just keep telling me soon well what do you consider soon? It's been over 4 hours and I am not pleased. There are still people in front of us waiting to be seen. Does nobody work here? Worst experience ever. " - Amanda

: "Had major neck surgery on September 24 at a Hoag outpatient facility that decided to discharge me hours too soon and ended up at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach at 6pm. The experience was a nightmare. No social distancing rules being followed EXCEPT that I wasn’t allowed my husband in with me despite being in agony from the surgery and unable even to sit up straight. Was told it would be at least a five hour wait - told to go and “wiggle myself” into a tiny two seater couch and lie down even with brand new titanium in my neck. No one seemed to care. Eventually when I refused to allow them to quell my wheelchair into a corner to be forgotten about in the COVID craziness of the ER lobby a wonderful nurse took compassion on me and went to find a recliner chair then got me into the overflow in radiology. That’s where patients were being put becaise there was no room, but they didn’t have the staff to take care of patients back there! Apparently the hospital was full and despite my doctor wanting to admit me it was impossible. Eventually at midnight I was put into an ER room as an admission. Apparently 23 out of the 50 ER rooms were being used for admissions causing even further backups. Staff were being called in from other departments to help - I ended up with an ICU nurse who was trying to help the chaos.

I have a friend who went through an almost identical situation at UCI in Irvine the day before. I do not know why no one is talking about the. HASs in our emergency rooms right now. It is unconscionable! Lives are going to be lost. People are already suffering unacceptably from pain and other conditions that are being ignored. Something has to be done but that’s impossible when it’s being hidden! How can we get the word out about what is really happening in our emergency rooms right now?!
