Ut Southwestern University Hospital-Zale Lipshy: "We made this mistake of trusting our oncologist's referral to have a bone marrow transplant here.
This hospital is deadly to bmt patients! They do not have an icu, rehab, etc floor exclusively for bmt patients, they are put back in with the general population. Measures are NOT taken for the special care of the immunocompromised, except on the bmt floor.
The ICU had so much dust on fire sprinkler heads, it was hanging down. Surfaces were not sanitized. Workers did not understand the specific precautions needed.
Rehab floor -- worse. They let my husband fall, which caused a huge rip in his hand that never healed and of course got infected. Like icu, no bmt measures were taken. The floor and rooms were dirty.
I will live with regret for the rest of my life that we chose this hospital. One of the team I will not name told me how frustrated they were with what I listed above. Wish I'd known that going in.
The bmt floor was wonderful, with people who became like family to us. This review is not about them.
Just hope and pray you or your loved one won't need to go to the icu or rehab floors.
Oh, and interesting fact: they strongly discourage patients/patient's families from having any interaction. Wonder why? The support would be nice, but instead you feel completely alone. I guess they're afraid of people sharing experiences."
