Southeast Alabama Medical Center: "As a healthcare worker for many years, I am careful about leaving reviews. Usuallu, if i cant leave a good review, I bypass it all together. However, I do not feel I can so easliy forget my experience at southeast Health in Dothan, Al this week. My nephew is 25. he stands well over 6 ft tall. he has lost 57 pounds in less than 3 months. We were sent to Dr. Sarls office at digestive health in dothan. We thought he would help us. Jacob has been throwing up everything he has tried to eat and drink for many weeks now. EVERYTHING. gove him a swallow of water, it comes up, medicine? it comes back. He is literally starving in front of us and we are desperately seeking help. Wednesday afternoon, Dr Sarells sent us to Southeast to the ER. Silly us, we thought he was tryingto help us, that Jake would be admitted and if nothing else they could give him a cup of water and watch what happened. you know, I can show you, better than I can tell you kind of thing. no, indeed, this was not the case. apparently this was just a suggestion of his we were told. Me, my 70 year old mother and my very sick, tired, depressed and overwhelmed nephew sat in that emergency room 15 hours!!! This well over 6ft very sick, very tired young man, in those horrible waiting room chairs for 11 hours! Oh, we were not the only ones. When you check in they hand you barf bags. Thank goodness because young lady behind us went through about 5 and when we left she was still in the same chair. No nurse or dr to be seen, there was blood drops all over the floor. People with IVs that were unatteneded. See, I just so happen to know these need to be checked and flushed every 4 hours. well i was there 15 and not a single one was even looked at after they were put in, some had fluids going some did not. They finally moved us or Jacob i should say to a room. 5 hours go by and still nothing for 3 hours he asked if he could have afan because apparently he was told the air conditioning was tore up in the section he was at. Who runs this place? Where are the state survey results? This was a scene out of a horror movie. Jake was so sick, he begged us to take home so he could at least lay down and rest. We had him an appointment today, for another referral. He was tested foe Siliacs diesease and has a referral to the Mayo Clinic in Jackcan.sonville, Florida. My advice, if you want care, to get better, stay just as far from this hospital as you posiibly can." - jennifer

Southeast Alabama Medical Center: "I was bleeding dark red blood from my bladder, my wife and I waited for 6 hours, each time I was told to sit down. Finally, Andrea put us in a holding area and put a catheter in with a small bag, and sent home. The bag was so small, we could sleep because it was filling up with dark red blood every 40 minutes requiring it be emptied. NO SLEEP, AFTER A FEW HOURS I COULD NOT PASS ANY URINE, AND WE WENT BACK TO THE ER, WHERE AFTER SOME TIME ANDREA, A TRAVELING NURSE BEGAN TO IRRIGATE WITH SALINE, PULLING AND TUGGING ON THE CATHETER, MY WIFE SAW HER PULL A USED SERINGE OUT OF THE GARBAGE AND SQUEEZED SOME NUMBING GEL OUT OF A USED SERINGE FROM THE GARBAGE CAN. WE WERE SHOCKED, THEY PUT A LARGER BLADDER BAG ON THE END AND CONTINUED TO PUT US ON DISREGARD. AFTER MANY HOURS, ALL WHILE I BEGGED TO SEE A UROLOGIST, MY WIFE HAD TO EMPTY THE BAG, LEARNING AS SHE WENT. THIS WAS NOW SUNDAY, THE 2ND DAY OF OUR HORRIBLE DEBACLE. THEN, MY WIFE SPENT THE NIGHT IN A CHAIR BESIDE ME, STILL HAVING TO EMPTY THE BLADDER BAG BELOW. FINALLY, WITH NO SLEEP FROM FRIDAY NIGHT TO MONDAY AFTERNOON, I WAS MOVED UP TO UROLOGY, AND THEY BEGAN TO PREPARE ME FOR SURGERY. THEY REMOVED WHAT THEY CALLED A SIMPLE TUMOR, REFUSING TO ANSWER ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS. THEN ON TUESDAY, A DR. PHILLIPS CAME IN WITHOUT THE RESULTS FROM PATHOLOGY TOLD US BLUNTLY ITS BLADDER CANCER. ITS LIKE THE LAST PLACE YOU SHOULD GO WHEN YOUR SICK. " - Walker

Southeast Alabama Medical Center: "I have been to Southeast Alabama Medical Center twice now and both times, they didn't do a proper and thorough examination for my medical condition. I was seen by personnel in the waiting room, not taken to a room for a proper examination. This time I injured my back and they said it was just muscle strain. They gave me two shots (which I have no idea what those were)and a referral and that didn't work out. I begged to be x-rayed as I believe I injured my backbone, not just the muscle! Now I can barely sit up straight and when I lie down, it feels like my backbone is shifting. If you value your well-being, don't bother with this hospital!!!" - Lisa

Southeast Alabama Medical Center: "Horrible place and doctors they spend more time covering their butts than talking to patients which leads to a lot of mistakes and false records. I changed Dr.s 2015. My new doc disregarded everything I and it just got worse. I had kidney pain and presented with hematuria just weeks before seeing her. They would not use the CT I just had done so they could bill $$$$$$$$. Another issue was hypertension which was under control with just three medications- only one for blood pressure - but "Ego's" know best and they discontinued the other meds and my blood pressure kept going up and up- even after adding then doubling two more blood pressure meds. Then came the kidney pain again and despite a new CT showing issues with the kidney she refused to refer to a nephrologist. At my next appointment I asked her to reveiw my records and compare my health from the first appointment to present and the constant increase in BP of 30/20-points. She got angry and irrational and responded "if you are not happy maybe you should find someone else" - I said "sounds good to me" and she went into a fit like a child scribbling on my discharge paper like an angry child with a crayon and stormed out of the room. I almost laughed but just went on my way. As I handed the nurse the scribbled paper she laughed- and so did I. I said I must have pissed her off- the nurse replied "this happens more than you think". Two week later I received a letter from the doctor explaining she would no longer see me because I was acting irrational. They will screw you then falsify the documents- after all no one else is ever there to witness the truth." - Bill
