South Shore Hospital: "Today 5/10/2022 my mother who is 89 was sent by ambulance to SSH Emergency because of a fall. She is on blood thinners and it was important to make sure she did not have bleeding in here head and to make sure she did not fracture her hip. Knowing this would take some time as they were very busy we tried to be patient but after 5 hours it was impossible. To make matters worse She was never put in a room and stayed in the hall the whole time. We aArrival time was 10:30am and at 4:30pm she was still waiting for ctscan on her hip (a few hours earlier they did an X-ray on her hip and a ctscan on her head.) Because the X-ray can sometimes not show a fracture and since she is 89 the dr said a ct scan would be done. Well 2 1/2 hours later she was still waiting for another ctscan. I understand the emergency room was busy, but at no time did anyone check on her, offer water, food. When she had to go to the bathroom I had to ask the staff and they said she would need to wait because she was not able to walk to the bathroom. She was brought a bed pan and needed to use it in front of everyone. As rooms became empty and most of the other patients were gone or moved, new arrivals were put in the rooms and she remained in the hall. Well it is now 5:00pm and we are still here in the hall and they just came to bring her for a hip ctscan. This has been the worst experience we have ever had and is unexceptable care given by the staff in the emergency room and the treatment to an 89 year old woman. " - Coreen

South Shore Hospital: "Recently took my husband to the ER on the evening of 12/27. He was in acute adrenal crisis. Many symptoms associated with it. We were told he would have a 15 to 18 wait. Now I know with past experience this is life threatening. He was clearly not well. He was not lucid slurring etc. I advised the nurse if I were to leave him he would not be able to stay conscious for very long. He will fall out of a chair. Her response sorry" - Mary

South Shore Hospital: "The past several times I went to the ER I had wait times of over 7 hours. I had cliff and other life threatening issues. I don’t beluytjose reviews are that positive. I am very sick now but won’t subject myself to this.
I feel helpless and very sick.
You show positive survey results but they are not true.

South Shore Hospital: "Arrived in ER. Everyone arriving after was taken in ahead of us. Two and a half hour wait because of Diane the Shift Supervisor. One African American girl and a Hispanic man both in pain were left still waiting as well as myself. Diane is miserable and should retire. Only saving grace was Doctor was amazing even after we had to wait two hours for no reason. Discriminatory practices and Diane was driving that bus. Need new blood upfront." - Stella

South Shore Hospital: "2 stories both very bad. Mother fell and she had a serious tibfib fracture. Arrived to ER where she waited to see her surgeon, an 8 and a half month pregnant woman who took her into the OR at 1: o’clock AM! In there for 3hrs. Basically she has never been the same. She’s 2in shorter on the left, uses a walker, can’t sit in a chair without having to get up every 10min and the worst part is that doctor didn’t even care because she already had a baby! Second story, I am a RN BSN(rt). I fell and fractured my wrist extremely bad. A displaced radial fracture. Arrived at ER, pain was a 10 out of 10! I was crying, shaking because pain was so bad. So after they take my temp, pulse and blood pressure, which she wanted to do on my injured side and I looked at her with an angry face....she then took me directly into a waiting area and left me and said “your nurse will be right with you”. 15 minutes of me crying and other patients asking me if I was ok I finally met her. Now I’m completely aware of how busy it is to care for many patients at a time but they have this pain scale that shows the people that are taking care of you how to determine real or fake I was given Motrin taken to xray, screaming taken back to the waiting are where I waited for the Ortho PA . She’s the good thing that happened to me at that God forsaken crap hole! I hope no one has to go through that! Should of sued a long time ago, SSH SUCKS " - Tracey
