South Georgia Medical Center: "This hospital is absolutely horrible every time I have to come to it for myself or a family member/friend. Latest issue I’m dealing with is a bill I’ve called them about 5 times, provided them the authorization letter from my insurance company and they keep saying they don’t know why it’s still showing I owe money. Well today I received a letter stating I pay them or go to collections!?!?!? Of course no ones working today but Monday someone over there is going to get this straightened out!! I’m 100% Medically Retired/Disabled Wounded Warrior that is bedridden 90% of the day, wheelchair bound when I can get up, my wife had to leave her job to become my full time caregiver because there’s almost nothing I can do for myself anymore due to my injuries. I don’t need this extra stress in my life. " - Donny

South Georgia Medical Center: "I was finally admitted To South Ga Mecical after have been seen in their Er 3 weeks earlier; even though I could not walk for some sudden apparent reason. I was sent back home with instructions to see my doctor later and I did that. I lay at home in such pain. Finally after my right big toe and one of my fingers on my left hand turned black I was told by one of the local private clinics to go back to the ER. On this visit to the ER
I was finally admitted. I was told I had MRSA in my blood stream and in my spine area. I still could not walk and was in excruciating pain, an infectious disease Dr. was brought in and I was put on numerous intravenous antibiotics, this went on for days. I was so sick ; however I was being made to get up and do physical therapy; infact a man from physical therapy came in one day and told me I could not make the hospital my home. I got so upset and did ask for someone from physical therapy to come in. This went on for 3 weeks. I was not getting any better. I kept being told I was going to have to go home and rehab brought in to continue with the Therapy and refer me to a pain management clinic. My daughter became very concerned and was able to contact Drs at Emory and convince them to have me transferred there. Once I was there all protocols were carried out since I had MRSA of which none of that was done at South Ga Medical Center. Once the Dr. came in to see me he exact words to me was we are going to try and save your life Ms. Taylor. I was astounded. I was then told my back was broke as the MRSA had eaten the vertebrae out of my spine. I was told how a left rib would be removed, my heart would be moved ,my lung collapsed for the surgery and I would be in the operating room about 12 hours and I was. My spine was rebuild and I was in intensive care several days and there at Emory Midtown for about 3 weeks. Thanks to Emory I’m alive. I feel certain If my daughter had not gotten me transferred I would have died there or been sent home to to die. I hope I never have to go there again. I will say the staff was kind with the exception of the man that was so rude to me that was from physical therapy. I thank God every day!"

South Georgia Medical Center: "I was admitted to SGMC on November 17, 2017 for a collapsed lung. I will admit that I have had nothing but negative experiences with this hospital in the past, every. single. time. However, this experience was a lot different and very pleasant. I was admitted to the cardiac ICU and had the best group of nurses and doctors anyone could ask for. Never once did any of my nurses complain or seem annoyed at anytime they helped me with anything. From the time I arrived at the ER till the time they admitted me to a room (to include having a chest tube inserted) it took all of 2 hours. I have never went to the ER and been called back for vitals in that kind of time frame before, let alone have a procedure and be put in a permanent room that quickly!
So I have nothing but positive comments to make about SGMC and it’s cardiac staff! This includes my doctors, Brown and Johnson, my nurses, Jon, Brett, Ms. Kim, BJ, and the many others that drew blood, took X-rays, brought food trays or anything else I needed! Even though I hope to never see any of you again under any circumstances that require me to be there, I do appreciate your dedication, hard work and caring attitudes! Keep up the good work guys!"
