Mercy Hospital Springfield: "Caught a parasitic helminth disease in early May. Went to the ER with my complaints. Because of how rare parasitic infections are un United States and how common mental illness is I was considered a delusional case from the very beginning. Since first catching it in early May and attempting to get help through the ER on 7 different occasions, showing photos with parasitic stool and and video of foreign organisms swimming in urine they still wouldn't so much as give me a test or referral. I was told not to come back to the ER with this problem and to make a primary care provider appointment. Which I did. I received a phone call shortly after from the receptionist telling me they would have to reschedule my appointment for the next day until Nov. And it's early August now. When I looked in my mercy app at my medical notes. The receptionist that rescheduled my next day appointment just happen to be the same person that did my intake notes on my last emergency room visit. So the ER refuses to help me and told me to get a PCP. When I do, I get pushed out 3 months by the same person to assume I'm delusional. Meanwhile the infection has now spread to my brain and I have cysts all throughout my body and I'm sure in my head since the infection spread. When I make a new appointment with a different doctor I was able to prove by letting her feel parasite on my skull and letting her feel again showing her that it moved. At least she gave me a referral to infectious disease doctor but when I tried to make my appointment they told me it would be 4-6 weeks out.... I'm living pure hell every day. I have infection in my brain now and can feel the nocturnal helminths move from my feet through my body to my head every might. It's miserable. I checked my notes the doctor made that I'm sure the infectious disease doctor looks at when determining the priority of my appointment and she mentioned my visits to the er and how they felt I was delusional and the only thing she said as far as I go is that I feel like I didn't get a good workup and when she came in the room I was holding my hand to my head holding one. She didn't bother mentioning that she was able to confirm it or feel it. So my parasitic brain infection looks to the infectious disease specialist that there's nothing urgent about my possible delusional or possible parasitic infection. Nothing about them migrating into my head or how miserable I am everyday. When I tried to get help from her to get me a sooner date from the infectious disease doctor I was told she couldn't do anything. I would have never made it to this point in the first place if I would have got the care I needed when I first caught the infection. I can't live like this for another 4-6 weeks. I'll be blind and have brain damage and possibly even dead by then but no one cares in the least. I have never experienced anything like this before. I can't describe how miserable this is and I can't get mercy to help me. I'm scared for my health and my life and mercy hospital doesn't care at all. Their er staff have made me feel so embarrassed by assuming I'm delusional. Little do they know they are the ones wrong and have delayed my healthcare and continue to do so. I am so blown away. I tried to complain and requested them to reply which they never did. There's no compassion or consideration at this hospital. I have truly been let down by this horrible hospital!!!" - Dustin

Mercy Hospital Springfield: "Coughing up blood. May be a blood clot. Urgent care refused me because of coughing blood. Went to er by my Dr's recommendation. Got here around 6pm it is now 3am and still no extray of my lungs. 2 differental car wreck victims left if cervical collars for hours and hours one just have up and left. The second sleeping in her chair for hours gave in the same time I did. I have to be too work in a few hours I have asked for them to take the I've put off my arm so I can leave this is unacceptable. What has happened to our Healthcare? We don't even get to lay down in a bed? Left for hours in the emergency room. Without any up date. Waiting. Cold. Very dirty. I'm so underwhelmed and disappointed. " - Kathy

Out of our local hospitals' MERCY as rated by Medicare Guidelines (which are ridiculously strick)... MERCY has a FIVE STAR RATE and COX has a ONE! Medicare - As of 2023. Furthermore, Mercy Hospital has the FASTEST ER 2-hour average waits comapred to the other two options of 3-hour waits. Here is the unbelievable part! YET, with all those critically injured or very seriously ill people, MERCY has the shortest wait time! > DISCLAIMER < I am NOT affiliated with Mercy Hospital in ANY WAY, I don't even know anyone that works there. As A Mercy Patient, I have stayed in the Mercy Hospital for OVER ONE HUNDRED DAYS, and for every hospital stay I went through the Emergency Room Department. This has all taken place from 2018 to 2023.
SO THIS IS THE VOICE OF EXPERIENCE! MERCY IS YOUR BEST BET - PERIOD.
For top-quality care! GOOGLE IT! Mercy Hospital Springfield: "Have been waiting over 3 hours haven't seen a Dr still in waiting room. In that time I have witnessed an elderly man crying out for help and everyone ignoring him, my husband went to the counter to inform them of the man needing help which they could obviously see so someone went to him and told him reading minds was not one of her skills (I assume they think that is good customer service) another lady received her lab results on my mercy before hospital even had them they indicated she had a heart attack and they had her continue to sit in the waiting it has been at least 2 more hours for her and they've done nothing. Then I witnessed blood being drawn from a man right in the waiting room. I cannot be convinced that is anywhere near sanitary. Things need to seriously improve here at Mercy its truly an embarrassment how poorly this er is run." - Michelle

Mercy Hospital Springfield: "5 HOURS AND COUNTING! EMERGENCY transport from an urgent care facility for suspected congenital heart failure! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

FIRST ... I agree, anyone glutting up these er rooms for minor issues ... STOP THE NONSENSE! GO TO URGENT CARE or an even less invasive provider.

It is absolutely mind boggling we are sitting in here over 5 hours!

    HORRIBLE!

Mercy Hospital Springfield: "I was in an truck accident earlier today, went be ambulance to hospital, I had a c-collar on, swollen knees, enormous headache ( was thrown around in cab and lost concessness for a small? amount of time, had NOT been seen by Doctor, only "triage". I had been there 3hrs and still had another,at least, 5 or 6hrs too be seen for a CT scan. There was a patient that had been there 7hrs and still waiting too be seen, for an "illness" (this per Nurses), so I left and will be calling my Ortho tomorrow for an CT appt. I'm sorry, I personnelly think this is unacceptable, esp. for someone, anyone, too have to wait that long after an MVA, granted I was NOT bleeding, but we didnt know of anything possible internally. Thank You though for the help that I did receive from the Ambulance service/Ozark Police Dept.and others that were involved in treating me at the scene." - Edie
