Mary Washington Hospital: "I cannot recommend Mary Washington Hospital. After 3 PM until the evening shift the floor staff disappears. If you need assistance from 3 to 6 pm, call a relative on your cell phone and have them come in to help. My experience is that in this time period the average wait time for assistance is over 2 hours, or not at all. Better, have all of your visitors from 3 pm to 6 pm on a rotational basis to lend yourself assistance. One quickly finds out who are the hospital staff who care about the patients and those who show up for a paycheck. Some hospital administrators rate this as being from COVID burnout. That may be true but there has now been time to reconstitute, retrain, and revitalize the staff. " - Dr.

Mary Washington Hospital: "Awful! Just this week, I suffered through the most agonizing experience I've EVER had at ANY medical facility, EVER - both doctors (Dr. Cheeman and Dr. Robert Fines), charge nurse (Kelly), and administrative staff (all, but Nadine for sure)!

It's ok for the doctor's, nurses and even the patient advocates to make you feel unsafe and disrespect you, but you will be banned from MWH's land and buildings if they dare perceive that you have disrespected or made one of their staff feel uncomfortable.

The entire ER is filthy dirty, everywhere! Some patients were sprawled out on the dirty lobby floor because the wheelchairs and lobby chairs are hard as rock. Others were lying in make-shift beds using chairs and covered in blankets. This was because, for some reason, the MWH ER can't assign you a bed. I SAW empty beds. I told a nurse that and she said, "where"? I rounded a corner and tada! There they were all lined up, nice comfortable chairs and beds. Empty chairs and beds!

I so wanted to lie in that green chair balled up in a fetal position because I was in so much pain; but, a very nasty, mean security guard came to the doorway, flicked on the light and ordered me back out to the lobby. For the record, I arrived by albulance and was quickly transfered to one of the rock-hard wheelchairs and dumped into the lobbyt where I sat hour after hour. MWH claims to reinvest their "profit". Well, invest those funds in new chairs, wheelchairs AND beds! There is NO excuse for the lack of any. I spent 12+ hours going back and forth to that filthy lobby.
When I was FINALLY taken back to a room after complaining twice, the nightmare got worse. The charge nurse would not allow my mother or sister to come back to see me because she said I was yelling. I suppose we revert back to kindergarten when you visit the MWHC ER. That charge nurse violated both my family and my patient rights! My mother wanted to speak to the doctor who took over during the shift change, 12 hours down, 12 left I spent! She was concerned about an elevated blood test I had to beg the man to order! She was denied that opportunity! That is unlawful.

I was never assigned a nurse and none offered any assistance. I had to ask for a pillow. I had to ask for something to drink after about the 12th hour; and, I had to BEG for someone to relieve the pain that had yet been diagnosed. I had to ask a nurse to take a urine sample that the PA collected in triage but didn't take for testing when she left the room and never returned. By the time I handed it to a nurse, it was leaking out of the cup. Disgusting. Subcare! The only time I was helped was when I called out to a nurse who happened to be walking past my room. Maybe that is what the charge nurse heard.

Although I had a bp of 147/92, dizziness, pressure in my head like it was going to explode, chest pain, shoulder pain, leg pain (all reported by me to staff) and an abnormal EKG taken by EMT that was totally dismissed by my 1st ER doctor, Dr. Cheema, an elevated d-dimer, genetic blood clotting disorder, Factor II, and suffering a multi-bilateral emboli in 2012, NO EKG was performed by the ER. Subcare!

After grabbing the EKG from me, Dr, Cheema looked at something concerning on my knees and gave me one possible cause and it was NOT hives. But, someone charted that I complained of Hives. I asked MWHC to fix it. They sent an amendment form on which stated my request to correct MY MEDICAL records could be denied. Notes also state I drink 3 glasses of vodka/day. WRONG! That error resulted in my boyfriend hearing the "oh so busy" staff saying, "Oh! That's just the lady with an alcohol problem", every time I called for assistance.

Think I'm safe? I don't. However, if the Director of Security, Calvin, feels you disrespected or made any employee at MWHC feel uncomfortable or disrespected, he/MWHC will issue a No Contact/No Tresspass Order via email AND TEXT!
How's that for service?"

Mary Washington Hospital: "What an embarrassing excuse for an emergency room. I WAITED 8 1/2 HOURS! Then ANOTHER 3 HOURS WHEN THEY PUT ME IN A BED TO SEE THE 1 DOCTOR WORKING THE OBSERVATION ROOM. 1 DOCTOR! I was told that they are 100 nurses short. How does this happen? They sure charge enough.
The waiting room was crowded as they forced patients to “wait for a bed” along with new patients coming in the doors. Blood on the floor was wiped up, but sanitation showed up almost an hour later. There were older folks trying to sit upright (in wheelchairs if they were lucky). The unlucky ones wobbled in chairs and tried to sleep. It was cold and you could ask for a blanket if you weren’t too sick. NO STAFF CHECKED ON WAITING PATIENTS. Only patients could have water, if they could find a staff member who would get a cup. If you were waiting with someone, you were turned away. The vending machine was empty, and no place to get anything to eat. Several patients yelled at staff that they wanted to just leave, but were not allowed to because they had put IVs in. Like me, they had not been hooked up to anything. Police were called as frustrated patients tried to just get out of this terrible situation.
I was told by the doctor that I could decide if I wanted to wait some more to see if he could get someone to do another test on me in the morning, or I could go home and sleep. No water, 11 hours waiting, 4:00 in the morning with no sleep, blood pressure sky high. They sent me home. When I got my discharge paperwork it said I had been monitored continuously. LIES! No mention that my blood pressure had gone up to 197/120, but I was left in the waiting room.
I can hardly wait to see the bill, then I am turning this this death trap over to whatever governing agency is allowing this nightmare to continue. "

After all, that''s what the director of security told me to do, take my concerns up with a government agency. Nice! Boy did I EVER! Don't come here if your life depends on it!! The place is garbage. Don't you dare respond with your BS rhetoric under this review!! As you can clearly see, it is all just that, rhetoric. Why? Because your reviews NEVER improve!!!!" - Kareb
