    Martha Jefferson Hospital Stories

Martha Jefferson Hospital: "Worst emergency room ever. In all my years (which is not a small number) I have never waited this long for care.

My husband had symptoms of chest pain and trouble breathing. He is not one to complain about pain, so this was significant. His father had five stents and we weren't taking any chances. No, the hospital did that for us.

We waited for FOUR hours! They said because they did an EKG when we first got there that he was fine. Fine? People have died with heart attacks after and ekg. Ekgs don't show everything.

So, it's worth noting that if you have any chance with possible heart issues, do NOT go there.

We got there at 2:00 pm and left at 9:00 pm.

I asked how many doctors were on duty. The responded that only TWO were working the entire department."

Martha Jefferson Hospital: "Went to the Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital for severe excruciating low back pain. All they did was the usual blood pressure check, temperature check and oxygen level check. I am a 64 year old female with a history of kidney stones, diabetes type 2 and chronic kidney disease. I also have had a spinal fusion from spinal stenosis. All I was told that I was not life threatening and given prescriptions. That's the way they work now that Sentara has taken over. I got the impressure that my age was a factor in my so called care. They don't
want to deal with the eldely in my opinion. Later that night, the pain
was unbearable, so I went to the UVA ER. I was immediately given medication for my pain. Tests, including blood work, ultrasound, x-rays
and a MRI were done. Later found out the spinal fusion hardware has become fracture. Kidney lesions were also found that I had no idea existed. I will never step my foot in that hospital again. They should just turn that place into a hospice facility. When people ask me my opinion on Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, they'll get a mouthful.
    Thanks for nothing. "
