Harton Regional Medical Center Stories

Harton Regional Medical Center: "My son called Crisis Center when depressed one night, they sent him to Vanderbilt Harton Hospital for an evaluation, He was told he would be checked in and moved to an inpatient facility. That he would spend 'a couple days' in this other facility being evaluated, medicated, and released to go home for outpatient care. I have at this time been working for 6 days trying to get him moved to another facility, where he won't start this treatment until moved from Harton. He is in lockdown, cannot have any contact with the outside world, no phone, no tv, on a mat in an empty 10X10 observation room, being denied the basic human needs such as food and water, bathroom facilities, etc., Then blamed and punished him with further denial of basic human rights, when he had 'an accident.' This is how Vanderbilt Harton treats their vulnerable, mentally exhausted patients? From what I can ascertain, the Dr who signed his intake, signed a 6404 patient hold and will not release him to anyone but a state facility. He has an immature personal vindetta now and it's blaming the patient for his lack of decent treatment. No matter who I talk to, I cannot get a straight, truthful answer. No one on the ER Dept where he's being held against his will, will answer my questions and down right has lied to me about available beds and facilities in the area. I have found 2 facilities with available beds, who take indigent, tenncare, and/or Safety Net which he was told he was signed up for but now an being told they did ???? when I ask about them, I am told the Dr will not release my son from the 6404 unless it is too the state facility who had had an upward of 100 name waiting list. They blame the lack of flexibility on Centerstone it the crisis center, there is no except for this inhumane treatment of one of our more vulnerable parts of society. This is 1950's, ignorance in mental health, where they used to lock them up in a bare basement, and deny basic needs, do forced lobotomies and sick treatment. There rest of the world has moved past this ignorance and punishment of our mentally challenged while places like Harton still withe in the squalor of ignorance. This your of treatment is and should be illegal." - Bex
