Fairview Ridges Hospital: "OMG! This Place is Horrible! I brought my Daughter in for a In-Grown Toe Nail! They triage us and the first question out of the nurses mouth is asking my daughter if she is SAD? My daughter is 9 and has never been to the E.R before! So naturally my daughter says yes. I chuckle because I know my daughter does not understand why they are asking her this question. I then ask my daughter if she is scared because she is in the E.R. or is she SAD for other reasons? My daughter says that YES she is scared because she is in the E.R. They ask my daughter how long she has had the in-grown toe nail. My daughter responds that she has had it sense she was 6 years old. Mind you she is 9 years old. I chuckle and don't say anything because I figured the nurses had some common sense.

So after being triage we go back to a room. The doctor John Dunbar and a nurse and a scribe all come into the room. The doctor ask if there has been any type of fall or injury. All three are acting Strang. I politely say that we are there for a in-grown toe nail. The doctor then looks at the nurse and says outloud and I quote" We wont need them, Unquote. At first I just blew off his comment but I later realized that he was talking about security. I explain to the doctor that we recently stopped giving my daughter baths and had started to have her take showers. We wanted her to take control of her self care now that she was getting a little older. I said that this was probably the reason I did not notice the in-grown toenail right away.

The doctor says outload and I quote "That is what I needed to hear" Again I did not understand at the moment what he was talking about. I later realized that he was thinking that my daughter has been neglected in some type of way. I swear to God the staff at this hospital are the bottom of the barrel. My 9 year old daughter exaggerated the amount of time she thought she has had the in-grown toe nail and said 3 years. I did not think the staff at the hospital would actually believe that! I mean come one! Have some common sense and have some staff that are trained in interacting with children for Christ sake!

The doctor removes the in-grown toenail and then after a long wait we are discharged. The nurse at discharge ask my daughter what level her pain is 1 through 10. My daughter says it is a 9. I again laugh outload and say that is not correct because I can tell my daughter does not understand the question. I tell the nurse that my daughter does not understand the question and then the nurse says to me that it does not matter because it is subjective and she just needs the information to put into the file. I roll my eyes at the nurse and explain that she needs to learn how to interact with children. I explain to my 9 year old daughter that a 1 is a happy face and a 10 is a sad face. Which one is she. My daughter points at the happy face. I mean come one.

Then we get home and I look on mychart at the discharge paper work. The doctor put on the paper work that I am the one (The father) that told them that she has had the pain in her tow for 3 years. OMG! My first problem is that Fairview staff does not know how to interact with children. My second problem is that they were trying to act like I had neglected my child over a in-Grown tow nail! My third problem is that they have zero common sense and are willing to enter incorrect data into the medical system.

Fairview hospital in Burnsville Mn has gone downhill. They uses to be top of the line, but know they are garbage. They are the same as the ghetto hospitals in Minneapolis. The Staff are rude, undertrained, and lack understanding of the basic knowledge in the medical fields. I mean come on really guys, OMG a In-Grown toenail and child neglect is occurring? What a joke! I can not wait for open enrollment, because we will be changing to a different private medical plan that will allow us to seek out a real hospital with talented medical staff." - Blake
